Your Job

Georgia-Pacific is currently seeking an Electrical Reliability Engineer at their Brunswick Cellulose mill in Brunswick Georgia. A successful candidate for this role will provide project support to both Maintenance and Engineering projects and Capital projects by maintaining an awareness of Electrical Standards, flagging/addressing project issues relative to those standards, and supporting the change management process.

Additionally, this role will develop Electrical related scopes that are based on sound and economically viable repair/replacement decisions via the maintenance workflow process. An ability to identify, develop and champion improvements in the workflow process is expected. Experience with RCFA (Root Cause Failure Analysis) methodologies and application to problem solving will be a significant expectation for this role.

We are seeking someone who has demonstrated skills in critical and economic thinking. Strong written and verbal communication skills are required in this role. The ability to identify, develop and champion improvements in the reliability capabilities of the Work Execution organization is greatly desired. The successful candidate will be able to excel in a multi-functional team and be able to prioritize multiple business requests.

What You Will Do

  • Lead or participate in root cause failure analysis and follow-up activities
  • Work with Operations, Maintenance and contractors on electrical reliability improvement plans, activities and outages
  • Identify, prioritize and communicate power and electrical reliability causes and develop plans to eliminate them
  • Inspect equipment, set up test and data logging instruments in the field
  • Support Electrical Safe Work Practices and keep arc-flash modeling and labeling up to date
  • Establish and maintain electrical and power system records

Who You Are (Basic Qualifications)

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in Electrical Engineering from an accredited institution (in lieu of a degree, completion of an Electrical / Instrumentation apprenticeship or Military equivalent training required).
  • Experience with 3-phase motor controls, low and medium voltage AC equipment, and low voltage DC equipment
  • Experience with motor protection relays
  • Knowledge of the RCA process
  • Experience with PLC systems and variable frequency drives (VFDs)
  • Understanding of engineering documents associated with electrical systems (one lines, panel schedules, schematics, wiring diagrams)
  • Understanding of electrical standards (NEC Code, NFPA 70E, etc.)
  • Ability to participate in weekend on-call teams and able to work a flexible work schedule when required

What Will Put You Ahead

  • Experience maintaining and troubleshooting industrial electrical distribution systems up to 15KV.
  • Experience maintaining and troubleshooting Instrumentation field devices
  • Working knowledge of control valves
  • Work experience in an industrial setting in Electrical Reliability and Power Distribution (480VAC to 15KV-switches, Breakers, Transformers, Drives, etc.).
  • Experience with protective relaying and coordination of protective schemes and principles.
  • Knowledge and experience with power system modeling software (such as EasyPower).
  • Experience in load studies and mill balance - KVA/MW Load Flow
