The UI Center for the Book is an innovative arts and research program dedicated to the past, present, and future of the book. The Center pursues a distinctive mission, integrating practice in the art of the book with a study of the book in society. We offer curricula in the arts of printing, binding, papermaking, and calligraphy, in the history and culture of books as a field of study, and in the expressive power of the book form. This temporary nine-month position, starting early September with a flexible start date, is responsible for providing administrative services and support to the department. Including coordination of departmental website accessibility compliance; assisting with departmental special event organization; initiating supply purchase requests; providing data and editing for departmental review; attend department meetings and create notes and draft documents for admin consideration. Job Duties: * Support the daily operations of the UI Center for the Book. * Coordinate the departmental web accessibility compliance. * Assist with maintaining communications databases and departmental website. * Create basic editorial, social media, multimedia, or other content. * Accurately research, organize, and interpret information. * Help review other's work for quality and accuracy. * Help manage logistics and communications for special events. * Initiate supply purchases and track inventories. * Monitor accounts and expenditures, create reports as requested. * Gather and provide information for departmental review. * Support the collection and reporting of outreach-related data. * Create content for digital and print channels, including newsletters, social media, and reports. * Draft materials such as event summaries, meeting minutes, and promotional content. * Serve as a contact for the department by providing information and responding to inquiries. Gather and provide information using available resources. * Build and maintain positive relationships with faculty, staff, students, and external partners. * Other duties as assigned. Required Qualifications: * Bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience. * 1 year of relevant experience in office administration, communications, or website maintenance, preferably in an educational setting. * Strong verbal and written communication skills. * Demonstrated time management and organizational skills; detail-oriented; ability to coordinate, track, and prioritize multiple projects or tasks simultaneously and meet deadlines. * Ability to work flexible hours, including occasional evenings and weekends, when needed. * Demonstrated experience working effectively in a welcoming and respectful workplace environment. Work Schedule: * Approximately 20 hours a week. * Flexible within the week
