What You'll Do

As a Building Controls Engineer, you'll spearhead the design, configuration, and integration of intelligent building automation systems, leveraging industry-leading platforms to deliver smart, connected environments.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and deploy fully integrated building control solutions-including HVAC automation, lighting controls, nurse call systems, and low-voltage networks-using open protocol frameworks like BACnet, Modbus, and LonWorks.

  • Engineer custom control algorithms and develop advanced software logic for scalable system performance using tools such as Johnson Controls Metasys or equivalent BAS platforms.

  • Commission and optimize system operations using diagnostics tools and data-driven analytics to ensure energy efficiency, occupant comfort, and operational reliability.

  • Collaborate cross-functionally with project managers, MEP engineers, and field technicians to deliver seamless turnkey solutions that meet client specifications and regulatory standards.

  • Produce technical documentation and value-engineered submittals to communicate design intent, system architecture, and interoperability to stakeholders and installation teams.

You'll contribute to the creation of sustainable, resilient, and intelligent buildings that support occupant wellbeing and operational excellence-while staying on the cutting edge of smart infrastructure innovation.

How You'll Make an Impact

You'll lead the design, configuration, and delivery of intelligent building control systems for HVAC and low-voltage technologies. From creating flow diagrams and software programs to overseeing material logistics and factory coordination, you'll bring complex systems to life-on time and on spec.

Your Role Includes:

  • Engineering tailored automation solutions using top-tier platforms

  • Developing and commissioning control software for optimal system performance

  • Coordinating submittals, installation drawings, and equipment schedules

  • Managing materials and factory processes to meet project timelines

  • Supporting field teams with troubleshooting, validation, and training

  • Communicating updates to project stakeholders and documenting as-built changes

  • Championing value engineering and safety across all phases of work

What We're Looking For

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering

  • 3+ years of experience in building automation, HVAC, or construction-related fields

Technical Expertise:

  • Strong understanding of HVAC systems, control theory, and building automation technologies

  • Experience designing and integrating low-voltage building systems (e.g. lighting, nurse call, data networks) using protocols like BACnet, LON, and Modbus

  • Skilled in drafting software and computer-aided design tools

Communication Skills:

  • Ability to explain complex technical concepts to clients and colleagues without a technical background

Hiring Compensation Range: $75,000 - 87,000/Annually USD. (Salary to be determined by the education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant, internal equity, and alignment with market data.)
