Job Overview

As a Senior, Sustainability Data & Disclosure, you will be responsible for Macy's, Inc.'s voluntary and mandatory sustainability reporting efforts. In this role, you will ensure our compliance with sustainability regulations, manage sustainability disclosures, and coordinate accurate data reporting. You will play a critical role in ensuring accurate and transparent reporting of our sustainability performance, helping us track progress towards our sustainability ambitions and communicate our impact to internal and external stakeholders. Your expertise in financial reporting and data analysis will enable us to drive continuous improvement and enhance our sustainability practices.

You will report directly to the Senior Director of Sustainability. This position is remote.

What You Will Do



  • Develop and implement a comprehensive strategy for sustainability data collection, management, and analysis across the organization
  • Define desired outcomes, milestones, and timelines that support sustainability priorities in collaboration with Senior Director of Sustainability and working teams
  • Partner with internal and external teams to ensure deadlines are met and projects are complete
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to collect, validate, and analyze sustainability data from various sources, including energy consumption, waste management, greenhouse gas emissions, water, human rights and other relevant metrics
  • Establish the toolkit for ESG data collection including:

    • Robust and repeatable data collection processes
    • Consideration for future reporting needs when developing data collection processes and models
    • Identifying opportunities for global standardization and driving the initiative across business lines

  • Educate and train internal stakeholders on sustainability data collection methodologies and reporting requirements
  • Ensure data quality, accuracy, and completeness through robust validation processes, internal controls, and data governance frameworks
  • Develop and maintain data management systems and tools to ensure accurate and efficient data collection and reporting tools (e.g., excel, dedicated ESG software platforms)
  • Support in the preparation and publication of mandatory and voluntary sustainability disclosures and internal reporting, ensuring rigorous adherence to industry standards and requirements
  • Monitor national, state and international environmental regulations, standards, and industry best practices. Propose enhancements to sustainability policies and strategies to ensure compliance and proactive alignment with regulatory requirements
  • Stay updated on emerging and changing sustainability reporting frameworks, standards, and best practices, such as ISSB/SASB/TCFD
  • Develop and execute strategies to engage with external stakeholders, including industry associations. Track market trends and regulatory changes to inform the company's sustainability disclosure strategy
  • Conduct in-depth analysis of sustainability data to identify trends, opportunities for improvement, and areas of risk
  • Foster an environment of acceptance and respect that strengthens relationships, and ensures authentic connections with colleagues, customers, and communities
  • In addition to the essential duties mentioned above, other duties may be assigned


Who You Are



  • Candidates with a BS or BA in data analytics or a related field or equivalent work experience in a related field are encouraged to apply. MBA a plus. 8 years of experience in reporting/data analytics, Sustainability reporting experience a plus.
  • Strong analytical, project and data management skills
  • Proficiency in sustainability reporting frameworks and standards (e.g., CDP, ISSB/SASB/TCFD)
  • Advanced knowledge of data analysis tools and software (e.g., Excel, Power B.I.)
  • A collaborative mindset and ability to operate within both departmental and company-wide initiatives
  • Outstanding presentation, training, and written/verbal communication skills in English and the ability to present complex concepts effectively both internally and externally to groups of varying sizes
  • Commitment to continuous learning and development
  • Knowledge of data analysis skills, with proficiency using Excel
  • Regularly required to sit, talk, hear; use hands/fingers to touch, handle, and feel. Occasionally required to move about the workplace and reach with hands and arms. Requires close vision.
  • Able to work a flexible schedule based on department and company needs. Travel may be required to Macy's in New York City, NY
