As a Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator, you will participate in the operation and maintenance of the Fort Indiantown Gap Wastewater Treatment Plant (WWTP). Some of your duties will include operating a Sequential Batch Reactor (SBR) WWTP that includes various Sewage Lift Stations and operating WWTP-related equipment. In this position, you will complete work orders, enter maintenance items completed into a software program, and submit completed work orders to the supervisor for validation. You can expect to perform sampling and laboratory analysis and sign each lab report after completion. Additionally, you will attend all required safety meetings and comply with all relevant laws and regulations.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

• Full-time employment, 37.5 hours per week
• Work hours are 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM, with rotating days including weekends and holidays, and a 30-minute lunch. This may change based on operational needs.
• Overtime as needed
• This position is considered essential. You will be required to work during emergencies and office closings.
• Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.
• Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

• Successful completion of the Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator Trainee (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration) program and certification as a wastewater treatment plant operator for any class and type of plant; or
• Possession of a valid certification issued by the Pennsylvania State Board for Certification of Water and Wastewater Treatment Plant Operators as a wastewater treatment plant operator for any class and type of plant.

Special Requirements:

• You must be in possession of a valid certification issued by the Pennsylvania State Board for Certification of Water and Wastewater System Operators as a wastewater treatment plant operator that is equal to or greater than a Class B, Subclass E, 1 and 4 Certification.
• You must be in possession of an active Pennsylvania non-commercial Class C driver's license or equivalent.

Additional Requirements:

• You must possess a valid federal or state-issued photo ID and pass a favorable National Crime Information Center (NCIC) screening for admittance to Fort Indiantown Gap.
  
• You must be able to perform essential job functions.

Preferred Qualifications (not required):

• Formal training in wastewater management.
• Experience in the operation of a Sequential Batch Reactor (SBR) Wastewater Treatment Plant (WWTP).
• Experience in the operation, maintenance, and repair of motors, pumps, compressors, valves, filters, and/or other related WWTP equipment.
• Experience in performing sampling/testing of plant influent or effluent for environmental protection.
