Join us as a Senior Research Associate (Applied Research)
We are seeking an innovative Senior RA to join our BioEnergy R&D team in advancing yeast and enzyme applications in the Biofuels industry. The successful candidate will be part of a collaborative team to discover new ways for adding value to our customer's processes, such as coproducts upgrading. The ideal candidate has a strong scientific curiosity and skills to develop and apply laboratory methods and techniques for finding biological solutions to industrial problems.

In this role you'll make an impact by:

• Develop, improve and apply laboratory methods and techniques, including scaled down assays, to evaluate enzymes and microbes in industrial processes

• Assist lead scientist in designing and conducting experiments to discover new biological applications, evaluate enzymes and microbial candidates and develop commercial products for the biofuel industry

• Maintain good laboratory practices, adhere to safety, environmental and quality standards, and observe well-structured data and knowledge capture

• Ensure proper functioning of critical equipment, and liase with external vendors / suppliers to maintain adequate lab capabilities

• Participate in project reviews and support overall team goals

To succeed you must hold:

• Biotechnology-relevant field: MSc with min. 2 years relevant experience, or BSc with min. 5 years relevant experience

• Solid laboratory experience in the industrial bioprocessing area

• Knowledge and experience in fermentation and/or protein and feed ingredient processing are highly desirable

• Proficient in data analysis and statistical methods

• Ability to perform basic troubleshooting of laboratory analytical equipment

• Familiarity with automation and high-throughput techniques is desirable

• Good oral and written communication skills

• Ability to work both independently and in teams

• Ability to travel both domestically and internationally

• Ability to work in the U.S. without sponsorship

Expected salary range: $65,000-$79,000
