DESCRIPTION OF WORK

The main responsibility of this role involves operating equipment for the construction and maintenance of all infrastructures within Forest District 11, as well as supporting wildfire suppression efforts. This includes handling specialized vehicles and equipment weighing between 10,001 and 26,000 pounds, such as backhoes, skid steers, small bulldozers, front-end loaders, tractors, forklifts, various mowing machines, and small dump trucks. The position requires the operation of these vehicles and equipment for the upkeep and development of state forest roads, grounds maintenance tasks like grass and brush mowing, snow removal, and cindering operations, as well as the maintenance and construction of recreational trails.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • This is a seasonal, full-time position with no healthcare benefits. The season runs from approximately March 2025 until November 2025 at which time the employee will be placed on leave without pay. The employee will automatically be returned to employment March 2026.
  • Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
  • Six months experience in the operation and maintenance of large vans, buses and single-chassis trucks with a gross vehicle weight of 10,001 pounds or more; or
  • Any equivalent combination of experience and training.
Special Requirement:
  • You must be in possession of a valid Class C Pennsylvania driver's license.

  • You must be able to perform essential job functions.
