Lead Agriculture Operations Technician

Bayer Facility - Chesterfield, MO

Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced Lead Agriculture Operations Technician to join our team at Bayer's Chesterfield, Missouri facility. In this leadership role, you will oversee agricultural operations, coordinate technical activities, and ensure the successful implementation of crop science research projects and greenhouse operations.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and mentor a team of agriculture operations technicians, providing technical guidance and performance feedback
• Coordinate daily agricultural operations including planting, maintenance, and harvesting activities
• Oversee controlled environment agriculture systems including greenhouse climate controls, irrigation, and fertigation systems
• Implement and maintain plant growth protocols according to research specifications
• Monitor plant health and growth, identifying issues and implementing corrective measures
• Maintain detailed records of operations, experiments, and results using digital documentation systems
• Collaborate with scientists, researchers, and cross-functional teams to support agricultural research objectives
• Ensure compliance with safety protocols, regulatory requirements, and quality standards
• Assist in troubleshooting equipment and systems, coordinating with maintenance teams as needed
• Participate in continuous improvement initiatives to enhance operational efficiency
• Support the development and implementation of new agricultural technologies and methodologies

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience in agricultural operations, with at least 2 years in a leadership capacity
• Strong knowledge of controlled environment agriculture and greenhouse management practices
• Experience with research protocols and experimental design in agricultural settings
• Demonstrated ability to lead teams and coordinate complex operations
• Proficiency with agricultural equipment, irrigation systems, and climate control technologies
• Strong understanding of plant biology, growth requirements, and pest management
• Experience with data collection, analysis, and reporting in research environments
• Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills

Physical Requirements

• Ability to perform physical tasks including lifting up to 50 pounds
• Capable of standing and walking for extended periods
• Ability to work in various environments including greenhouses with variable temperature and humidity
• May require bending, kneeling, and reaching during plant care activities
• Ability to wear required PPE as needed for specific work environments
