  • Estimated annual base pay: $113,000.00 (minimum) - $147,000.00 (midpoint) - $181,000.00 (maximum)

We are seeking a leader for the role of Engineering Manager - Design and Drafting with a focus on electro-mechanical product design in the Aerospace Industry. This role oversees the resources responsible for the design of our motors, sensors, actuation and pilot controls product lines and is based out of our world class Niles, IL facility. This facility is home to both our primary engineering development center and our primary manufacturing center for these precision aerospace products.

Key Responsibilities and Skills:

  • Developing a highly effective staff including full-time, intern, and contract workers, to carry out design activity for new and existing products and technologies. This involves utilizing the talent management system, completing review process and salary planning, maintaining and executing a training matrix, and supporting staffing of the group to meet business demands and objectives
  • Creating and improving design tools, drafting standards, and workflows within the confines of Woodward's Product Life Cycle (PLC) process that result in high quality products delivered on time. This also includes integration of evolving CAD software solutions.
  • Promoting design best practices to maximize the value of our products. This includes design reviews, guiding dimensional analysis, and leveraging continuous improvement tools such as Design for Six Sigma and lean.
  • Responsibility for design department budget including estimating and tracking team workload to assign resources as required to achieve business objectives
  • Responsibility for the configuration management processes including the change review board process

Other Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Arts/Sciences (BA/BS) required
  • Master's degree in Arts/Sciences (MA/MS) preferred
  • Management Experience
  • CAD system and Drafting Standards experience
  • 6 to 8 years of Engineering experience in aerospace or closely related field
