Job Title: Divisional Accounting Manager / Compliance Director
FLSA Status: Full Time - exempt
Reports to: Divisional Finance Director
Schedule: Standard office hours
Supervises: Bank Accounts Administrator, Divisional Payroll Specialist, Service Ext Acct. Specialist, DHQ Payables Clerk, Compliance Clerk, Corps Accountants
Rate of Pay: $105,000 annually
Closing Date: 8/1/2025

Function
The Divisional Accounting Manager/ Compliance Director oversees the operation of the Divisional accounting staff which includes the DHQ accounting and the accounting for all units outside of Denver Metro. This position is responsible for conducting internal audits (at least annually) for all units except DMSS. Responsible for preparing financial reports for the DFD in preparation for CFC presentation. Resolve items elevated by the Compliance Clerk related to resolving compliance issues, specifically collection of items needing personal refunds.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Manages the Divisional Accounting staff
- Supervises the DHQ accountants including revenue, payroll and payables
- Supervises and monitors Corps accounting for all locations outside of Denver Metro
- Supervises Service Extension Accounting
- Supervises Compliance efforts by the Compliance Clerk
- Provides support for the clerk in collecting personal refunds when identified
- Resolves all issues requiring personal refunds that the clerk was unable to resolve in a timely manner
- Conduct internal audits for all units outside of DMSS at least annually
- Prepares and analyses financial statements for all units outside of Denver Metro to assist the DFD for presentation to CFC
Education, Experience, Skills, Qualifications
- Required: Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or
- Business Administration from an accredited university, and a minimum of 1O years accounting
- experience Preferred: MBA, CMA or CPA, and experience in education in non-profit or fund accounting
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:
- Professional understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles and Financial
- Accounting Standards pertinent to The Salvation Army.
- Computer proficiency in accounting software, reporting software, donor management, and
- Microsoft Office suite.
- The ability to operate 10-key touch and other standard office equipment efficiently
- The ability to address multiple projects in a time sensitive manner is essential.
- The ability to present oneself in a professional manner and maintain confidentiality.
- The ability to interact with Officers, Management and Co-workers in a positive manner
Driving
This position requires driving:
- A minimum age of 21 (for insurance provision) and possession of a valid in-state driver's license is required.
- An MVR will be processed every year in accordance with The Salvation Army's policies.
Background Check
- Continued employment will be contingent upon a biennial (every two years) background check that is processed in accordance with The Salvation Army's policies.
