Overview

We are seeking a Patient Account Registrar, sometimes referred to as a Patient Registrar or Patient Access Specialist. A Patient Account Registrar interviews the patient or his/her representative to obtain patient demographics.

Employment Type: Full Time

Shifts Available: Evenings

Hours: 8-hours; 2pm - 10pm

Location: Dallas Regional Medical Center - Mesquite, TX

Responsibilities

Essential Duties and Responsibilities (includes, but not limited to):

  • Secures insurance information, eligibility, benefits and authorizations as applicable.
  • Works closely with all facets of the Admitting department including PBX operator function and reception areas.
  • Must be able to operate a computer to input and retrieve data.
  • Ability to communicate with the population served, utilizing age specific techniques from neonatal, pediatrics, adolescents, young adults, middle adult to geriatrics.
  • Maintain proficiency in medical terminology.


Qualifications

Before we go any further, we do have some deal-breakers. You must have:

  • Knowledge of multiple insurance authorization requirements
  • Knowledge in insurance Verification utilizing portals
  • Knowledge in collections
  • Knowledge of medical terminology
  • Previous hospital experience as an admissions representative
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills
  • Customer Services experience

Additional Qualifications:

  • Bilingual preferred
  • EMR System: Epic preferred
  • High School Graduate or GED Equivalent Required
