Responsibilities

SCREENING OF APPLICANTS BEGINS IMMEDIATELY AND CONTINUES UNTIL POSITION IS FILLED

POSITION SUMMARY:
Approximately 20% of time is spent with phone and reception triage, 20% with assisting crisis evaluators in the admission process with pre-authorizations and admission paperwork. 60% will be working directly with patients on units completing consents and outcomes.

Qualifications

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
* Position may require walking, standing sitting for prolonged periods of time.
* Occasionally lifts up to 10 pounds and carries small objects from waist to chest.
* Requires ability to work long periods on the phone;to hear and speak clearly over the phone.
* Must be able to read and write and specifically record information and read medical records.
* Regularly needs to bend, stoop and reach.
* Emotional stability necessary to perform the essential functions of the job.
* Vision and hearing sufficient to perform the essential functions of the job.

SKILLS:
Requires excellent organizational, verbal, interpersonal and customer service skills, grammar and spelling, the ability to read/comprehend written instructions and follow verbal instructions. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, managers, referral sources, patients/families, community resources, etc. Ability to exercise professional independent judgement in planning own work. Must be flexible with work hours to accommodate work volumes. Ability to multi-task and stay calm when dealing with several issues at one time. Must be comfortable answering a high volume of incoming telephone calls. Must have excellent computer and data entry skills. Typing 50 wpm with knowledge of grammar, punctuation and spelling. Knowledge of general office equipment. Requires organizational, verbal, interpersonal and customer service skills, the ability to read/comprehend written instructions and follow verbal instructions. Working knowledge of software programs such as Windows, Word, Excel, etc. Ability to maintain confidentiality. Ability to work mornings, evenings and weekends is necessary. Must have exceptional customer service experience.

EXPERIENCE/EDUCATION/LICENSURE
Associate's degree or equivalent; bachelor's degree in social services or related field preferred. Customer service experience in the mental health field and excellent computer/data entry skills required.

STAFF DEVELOPMENT REQUIREMENTS:
Must meet or exceed hospital and regulatory agency training requirements.

EXPOSURE CATEGORY: III

The normal work routine involves no exposure to blood, body fluids, or tissues.
