Job Summary
#CA-PS Under direction of the Network Operation Center (NOC) Supervisor, this position provides mid-level technical support for the planning, implementation and operation of campus network infrastructure. This role involves administering a complex network environment, provisioning data and voice services, performing system maintenance and troubleshooting, monitoring network performance and supporting infrastructure projects. This position plays a key role in maintaining, improving and securing the campus data and wireless network services critical to operations. - Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related field and / or equivalent experience/training.
- Experience in writing Access Control Lists (ACL) and Route Filters.
- Experience in protocol analysis and use of network analyzers including Network General Sniffers, Fluke Networks Optiview, ethereal, tcpdump and snoop.
- Ability to provide technical assistance to resolve abnormal operating conditions.
- Analytical skills to work independently, establish priorities and manage time effectively to meet all task and project goals.
- Skills with configuring and maintaining TCP/IP data networks including experience with or working knowledge of equipment configuration and protocols associated with IP routing, Ethernet switching, VLAN's, 802.1q tagging, and spanning-tree.
- Knowledge of inside and outside wiring, cable record systems, cable distribution topology, naming and numbering conventions of copper, coax, and fiber cable network systems and knowledge of OSI Model, including Physical and Data-Link layers, TCP/IP and routing protocols (BGP) and (OSPF).
Preferred Qualifications
- CompTIA Network+, CISSP, Cisco certifications CCNA, CCDA, AWS, VMWare, Azure certifications
- Experience on the fundamentals of data network administration and management of a large, complex data networks preferably supporting administrative, instructional and research functions.
- Experience with data network protocols and management including TCP/IP, ICMP, BGP, OSPF, MPLS/VPLS, VRRP, VSRP, Spanning Tree, Ethernet, 802.1q, DSL, PIM, IGMP, SIP, RTP, SNMP, RMON, and sFlow.
- Experience with Radius, 802,1x, SSH, SSL and other methods of providing security for passwords and network communications.
- Written and oral communication skills to develop reports, project plans, proposals, information pieces, operations and maintenance procedures, and to interact tactfully with diverse campus population, consultants and vendors.
- Knowledge of wireless communication 802.xx protocols. Knowledge of ITIL (Information Technology Information Library) best practice.
- Knowledge of network security technologies including Firewalls, BIG IP F5, VPN solutions, and Authentication technologies.

Department Overview The Enterprise Infrastructure Services (EIS) team within Information and Educational Technology (IET) creates, deploys, and manages business, academic, and infrastructure systems. The vast infrastructure of campus wireless, telephone, data, video, and radio systems is maintained and supported by the Network Operations Center (NOC), a unit of EIS.
