As part of Detection and Measurement, Aids to Navigation, including Flash, Sabik Marine and Sealite, are leading providers of lighting and navigational aids for the marine, obstruction, and airfield end markets. Offering the broadest portfolio of solutions, we help people transverse the world safely by air, land, and sea. This role covers both systems engineering and product integration engineering, as well as providing technical stakeholder support to meet client and/or employer needs for the business. Duties:
- Deliver system design and product integration, including assistance with test and commissioning of new equipment.
- Deliver new product introduction, by working with engineering and production staff to ensure successful pilot and production introduction.
- Inform relevant personnel of changes to design and/or scope that may impact deadlines, workloads, or assignments of the team or project.
- Provide technical support and input for tender preparation.
- Develop custom system solutions in response to stakeholder requirements and responding to technical sales queries (e.g. solar sizing, mechanical interfaces, electrical parameters, etc).
- Develop existing systems by analysis and identifying areas for modification.
- Maintain and improve systems by monitoring, identifying and correcting system or and/or product defects.
- Become familiar with all products, or develop the necessary channels required to gather any requested information.
- Become familiar with all relevant industry standards (e.g. FAA, ICAO, IALA, REACH, RoHS, RED) and mandatory regulations.
- Create technical specifications and test plans.
- Develop and write detailed Scope of work documents.
- Write operational documentation.
- Work closely with other staff contributing to company objectives, such as development engineers, quality engineers, production staff, project managers, graphic artists, systems analysts, and sales and marketing professionals.
- Constantly updating technical knowledge and skills by attending in-house and/or external courses, reading manuals and accessing new applications.
- Participate in department improvement activities such as reviewing and updating engineering processes.
- The role may require occasional travel to site and/or our global offices.
- Perform any other duties as reasonably directed.
Minimum Position Requirements:
- BS Electrical Engineering
- 3 years+ experience in a Systems Engineering position
- Experience in environmental, electrical, and RF compliance verification or testing
- Proven experience in the end to end the design of a product or project
- Ability to read and understand electronic and mechanical documentation
- Experience in 2D drafting packages
- Advanced MS Office experience
- Excellent communications skills
- Organization and time management to manage multiple, and at times, shifting priorities.
- Demonstrated critical thinking skills, capable of making evidence based technical and business decisions
- Confident and motivated, uses initiative, perseverance, independence and resilience to drive outcomes
