POSITION SUMMARY:
Reports to Site Manager. Responsible for understanding and assisting patients with access to Johns Hopkins medical staff and programs. Supports the development and execution of ways to enhance communications; and facilitates the resolution of general concerns raised by patients as they relate to operations, programs, referrals, education etc. Provide input into developing educational seminars and screening programs offered by physicians for targeting customers.
COMPETENCIES:
A. Education:
Work requires a level of knowledge in health care administration or office management as obtained from the completion of an Associate's degree. Baccalaureate Degree preferred. Additional experience may be substituted for education. (Equivalency Formula: Related experience beyond minimum training experience qualifications may substitute for formal education requirement on a two-years experience-for-one year education basis.)
B. Knowledge:
Knowledge of medical terminology equivalent to that obtained through successful completion of JHH sponsored Medical Terminology course.
Requires interpersonal and communication skills to efficiently work with diverse groups of community members.
Requires excellent organizational/administrative skills, flexibility and the ability to get things done
C. Skills:
Ability to recognize and/or anticipate the needs of customers and respond accordingly.
Ability to organize work, set priorities, performs duties simultaneously, and effectively function in stressful situations.
Highly effective verbal and written communication skills to coordinate/provide information to patients, families, and the health care team.
Highly effective interpersonal skills necessary to interact with patients, visitors and other health care team members.

A. Budget:
Contributes to the development of budgetary targets.

Prioritizes and organizes own work based on established hospital guidelines, policies and protocols.
Makes decisions regarding work processes based on established hospital guidelines, policies and protocols.
Maintains current knowledge of relevant protocols and procedures and makes recommendations for revision when indicated.

* Independently, and in consultation with unit leadership, solves complex problems related to unit operations.
* Recognizes and mobilizes appropriate resources that lead to problem resolution.
* Recognizes the need for, and has the ability to, effectively use the chain of command.
INFORMATION MANAGEMENT:
* Must be able to utilize information generated from both computerized and paper systems that support functions such as: medical records, admissions, transfers, discharges, order entry, labs, etc.
* Must be able to input data, retrieve data upon request, coordinate and communicate data from multiple sources.
* Operation and maintenance of all communication and office technology used on the unit.
Ability to maintain current knowledge in business related to technology and be able to apply this knowledge to the business setting by making recommendations to improve operations.
Requires basic computer skills and the ability to use online calendars, email and components of the Microsoft Office Suite.
Requires math skills appropriate to understand and perform basic budget and spreadsheet functions.
D. Required Licensure, Certification, Etc.:
NA
E. Work Experience:
At least 2 years of work experience using customer service, data management, time management and office management skills, preferred.
F. Machines, Tools, Equipment:
General office and communication equipment and personal computer.

Salary Range: Minimum 22.00 per hour - Maximum 36.32 per hour. Compensation will be commensurate with equity and experience for roles of similar scope and responsibility.

In cases where the range is displayed as a $0 amount, salary discussions will occur during candidate screening calls, before any subsequent compensation discussion is held between the candidate and any hiring authority.
