Alumni Affairs and Constituent Relations

Job Description

The Miner Alumni Association (MAA), a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, is seeking a Finance and Accounting Analyst to manage and oversee all financial operations of the association. This role works closely with MAA staff, the board of directors, external accounting firm, and investment manager. In addition, the position provides broader support to the university in managing both annual and endowed funds.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Maintain all financial records including recording of gifts, receivables and expenses via QuickBooks (enterprise financial reporting platform)
  • Develop, monitor and track MAA's operating budget. Ensure income and expenditures are in accordance with the approved budget
  • Work closely with the executive vice president to ensure the association is operating within its financial boundaries and communicate in a timely manner any budget variances
  • Prepare and present quarterly financial reports to MAA Resources and Executive Committees
  • Prepare monthly reports of financial activity including reconciliation of all accounts and the monthly earnings of 200+ individual endowment accounts
  • Monitor and report monthly, MAA investment portfolio returns
  • Reconcile and monitor the association's checking account
  • Supervise financial and administrative operations and reporting systems with some responsibility for policies and implementation procedures
  • Oversee and assist in the awarding and required reporting associated with all scholarships, and other endowed accounts, held by MAA
  • Will serve an integral role as endowment coordinator for all university and alumni association endowments. Responsibilities will include drafting legal documents, managing the endowment approval process, distribution of the final package to the donor, establishing chart field strings and any other fiscal duties surrounding the endowment process
  • Ensure that MAA is in compliance with university, state and federal regulations and standard accounting procedures
Shift

Monday-Friday 8:00AM to 5:00PM

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience and at least 2 years of experience from which comparable knowledge and skills can be acquired is necessary

Preferred Qualifications

  • A bachelor's degree in accounting or a related discipline with a strong emphasis in fiscal management
  • 3-5 years of demonstrated success in fields related to accounting, business management, finance or similar areas
  • Ability to build strong financial partners throughout campus and with alumni while handling all related tasks and projects
  • Demonstrated ability to multi-task and self-manage day-to-day operations is necessary
  • Experience working with non-profits in higher education is desired
Anticipated Hiring Range

The anticipated hiring range for this position has been established as $21.42 to 30.29 hourly.

Salary is determined by a variety of factors, including but not limited to, the individual's particular combination of education, skills, and experience, as well as organizational requirements.
