Responsibilities

Are you a passionate music lover with a knack for healing through sound and Bachelor's degree in music therapy? Do you believe in the power of music to transform lives? If so, we want YOU to be our next Music Therapist!

At Newport, we create a vibrant environment where clients can explore their feelings, enhance their emotional wellbeing, and develop problem-solving skills-all through the magic of music! As our Music Therapist, you'll lead the charge in crafting engaging and therapeutic music-based programming that resonates with our clients.

What You'll Do:

  • Collaborate & Create: Work closely with our Clinical Director to design and implement music activities that inspire and uplift our clients.
  • Engage & Encourage: Interact with clients in a lively milieu, encouraging participation and fostering a sense of community during sessions.
  • Facilitate Sessions: Lead individual and group music therapy sessions, guiding clients through various techniques and practices.
  • Play & Perform: Facilitate both passive listening and active participation programs that involve playing instruments, singing, and creating music together.
  • Design Interventions: Craft musical interventions tailored to therapeutic goals that enhance psychological, physical, and social health.
  • Assess & Adapt: Visually assess clients during sessions and measure the effectiveness of your musical interventions.
  • Communicate & Collaborate: Keep the lines of communication open with clinicians and direct care staff to ensure a holistic approach to client care.
  • Document Progress: Provide weekly updates to the treatment team and complete documentation in a timely manner, adhering to established standards.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in music therapy required.
  • Master's degree in clinical, expressive arts, music therapy or related field
  • Board registered (APC, LAPC, ASW, AMFT) or licensed in the state in which services are provided preferred.
  • CBMT credentialed as Music Therapist-Board Certified (MT-BC) preferred, pursuing credential required.
  • Experience working with young adults/adolescents in a behavioral health setting

Pay range for this position is $55,521 to $72,579 depending on education and experience.
