Itron is seeking a Contract - Sr. Quality Engineer to join our team and play a critical role in ensuring our products meet the highest standards throughout their lifecycle-from raw material sourcing to final production and beyond. This role offers the opportunity to lead continuous improvement efforts, collaborate cross-functionally, and influence product and process integrity in a dynamic manufacturing environment. Key Responsibilities
  • Develop, evaluate, and revise technical quality assurance protocols for inspecting and testing raw materials, in-process components, and finished goods.
  • Review engineering-level data from design testing, manufacturing testing, reliability analysis, and field returns to inform product quality decisions.
  • Lead root cause and corrective action initiatives using 8D methodology.
  • Drive continuous improvement efforts to reduce waste and increase production output, with a focus on process capability and product performance metrics.
  • Utilize statistical process control procedures to ensure compliance with internal standards and external regulations (e.g., ISO, GMP).
  • Create and manage Control Plans, test protocols, and quality documentation.
  • Analyze inspection and test data to identify trends, recommend corrective actions, and support process capability studies.
  • Serve as liaison with Purchasing, R&D, and Marketing on quality-related product initiatives.
  • Support and participate in internal and external audits.
  • Provide technical guidance to Quality Technicians and Auditors.
  • Manage quality systems and data using centralized databases; develop analytical tools for tracking quality metrics.
  • Ensure inspection and test documentation is well-organized, compliant, and audit-ready.
Required Skills & Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent work experience.
  • 5+ years of experience in quality assurance or engineering, preferably in a manufacturing environment.
  • Proficiency in AIAG Core Tools (e.g., APQP, PPAP, FMEA, MSA, SPC).
  • Demonstrated experience with process improvement methodologies; Lean Six Sigma Green Belt preferred.
  • Strong analytical skills; experience with SQL and Power BI is a plus.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Prior experience in automotive manufacturing environments is highly desirable.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining high attention to detail.
Physical Requirements
  • Regularly required to sit, stand, and use hands to handle components.
  • Frequently required to reach, stoop, kneel, climb, or lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Exposure to manufacturing environments may include fumes, airborne particles, electrical equipment, outdoor weather, vibration, and high noise levels.
  • May involve working near moving machinery or with toxic/caustic chemicals.
