Position Summary Information


Primary Purpose
The Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences, School of Pharmacy at the University of the Pacific has an immediate opening for a research scientist for a period of up to 2 years from hire in the laboratory of Dr. Miki Park. The scientist will conduct a contract research project under the supervision of Dr. Park.
Essential Functions

  • Perform in vitro drug metabolism and in vivo pharmacokinetic studies.
  • Develop new synthetic organic chemistry routes for drug targeting and delivery.
  • Perform quantitative blood sample analysis using HPLC and LCMS.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Received a Ph.D. in Pharmaceutical Sciences within the past 5 years.
  • Four years of experience in synthetic organic chemistry, biochemistry, drug metabolism, and pharmacokinetic studies
  • A minimum of one peer-reviewed publication as first author in an internationally recognized journal.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Extensive experience with in vitro drug metabolism and in vivo pharmacokinetic studies.
  • Extensive experience in analytical chemistry methods (HPLC and LCMS).
  • Extensive experience in synthetic organic chemistry.
  • Experience and sensitivity in working with people of diverse backgrounds and cultures.
  • Demonstrated experience in advancing social justice, equity, and inclusion in a university setting.
  • Ability to engage and integrate culturally responsive practices and knowledge in their work.

Hiring Range $100,000 - $120,000 per year (We consider factors such as, but not limited to, scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's qualifications, internal equity, as well as market and organizational considerations when extending an offer.)
