This is an opportunity to inform the future of Thomson Reuters' marketing, e-commerce, and product support websites and tools. You will lead a research team to uncover rich insights that actively inform our company's strategy. Our customers need trusted answers; our in-house teams provide those answers through the product touchpoints your research team helps inform. You will also shape internal research for Thomson Reuters' design system with its consumers to inform the strategy and roadmap.

The Research Team's mission is to enable evidence-based product and design decisions that empower our customers to do their best work. You will play an important role in leading our teams to successfully achieve this mission for our company and our customers.

About the Role

As a Manager, User Experience Research, you will:

Responsibilities

  • Partner with groups across the organization including Product Management, Design, Engineering, and Marketing to execute UX and Product strategies.
  • Grow, nurture, challenge and manage a talented and ambitious team of researchers - creating a world-class research team that fosters high performance and innovation.
  • Guide your team as they conduct research from early discovery through launch utilizing critiques, brainstorming sessions, and other human-centered design methodologies and practices.
  • Guide research teams to achieve outcomes, rather than simply producing deliverables.
  • Share and expand learnings and practices across the team(s) that you manage.
  • Model the values and behaviors that are important to our customers and our organization, embracing our company's mindsets.
  • Remove roadblocks that prevent the team from making data-informed decisions and delivering the highest quality experiences for our customers.
  • Manage project prioritization and UX resource allocation, ensuring team members are on projects and initiatives that complement and stretch their skills, career ambitions and provide growth opportunities.
  • Balance competing priorities and goals in fast-paced environments, justify decisions, provide escalation management.
  • Lead through ambiguous situations with strong influence skills.

About You

You're a fit for the role of Manager, User Experience Research, if you have:

  • BA/BS in Computer Science, Human-Computer Interaction, Cognitive Science, Learning Sciences, Psychology, related field, or equivalent practice experience.
  • 8+ years of relevant work experience on complex applications in a position within User Experience, Human-Computer Interaction, applied research setting, or product research and development.
  • 3+ years managing research teams in achieving outcomes.
  • Mastery of your craft with a passion to extend your knowledge of qualitative and quantitative research, Agile development, and industry practices and trends through your team.
  • Expertise in creating human-centered design processes with measurable results.
  • Excellent communication, storytelling, presentation, interpersonal, and analytical skills; the ability to communicate complex research concepts clearly and persuasively across different audiences and varying levels of the organization.
  • Strong learning agility and ability to apply critical thinking to increasingly complex and changing work.

Thomson Reuters complies with local laws that require upfront disclosure of the expected pay range for a position. The base compensation range varies across locations.
For any eligible US locations, unless otherwise noted, the base compensation range for this role is $116,900 - $217,100.
This role may also be eligible for an Annual Bonus based on a combination of enterprise and individual performance.
Base pay is positioned within the range based on several factors including an individual's knowledge, skills and experience with consideration given to internal equity. Base pay is one part of a comprehensive Total Reward program which also includes flexible and supportive benefits and other wellbeing programs.
