POSITION DESCRIPTION AND SPECIFICATION

POSITION TITLE: Senior Manufacturing Engineer DATE: December 2025

FLSA STATUS: Exempt DEPT: Manufacturing

LOC: North Carolina


POSITION SUMMARY: The Senior Manufacturing Engineer reports to the Engineering Manager and is responsible for providing expertise for all aspects of creating work instructions for the manufacturing of new and existing parts or assemblies; operates in compliance with company safety practices; and performs other duties as assigned.

JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES


  1. 75% of daily task will be creating work instructions for shop floor personnel and outside service vendors.
  2. Analyze detailed 2D drawings, 3D digital models and/or reverse engineered aircraft parts and determine best practices for manufacturing to include labor time estimates, required equipment, materials, and any other processes that may affect the fabrication.
  3. Render drawings from customer supplied models as needed
  4. Determine applicable scope of work for outside service providers using customer specifications and blueprint requirements
  5. Assist the Engineering Manager in the development and implementation of manufacturing standards and procedures.
  6. Document cost estimate and communicate details to estimators as required
  7. Participate in root cause and corrective action analysis. Communicate findings and requirements to responsible internal departments.
  8. Establish new and maintain existing fabrication tooling as required for manufacturing
  9. Contact customers to resolve engineering or tooling questions
  10. Provide expertise on machining and assembly process issues.
  11. Provide process improvement and cost reduction guidance as required
  12. Revise cost estimates for customer engineering changes.
  13. Evaluate and interpret customer specifications and apply relevant information to the internal manufacturing process.
  14. Assist with tooling issues and/or part repairs as needed and ensure compliance with customer requirements
  15. Operates in compliance with company safety practices: complies with and aids in the development of departmental safety rules; ensures all equipment is in good working order and operates in a safe manner; monitors area for hazards; and maintains a safe and clean work area.
  16. Performs other duties as assigned.


SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

  1. Minimum of three years' manufacturing engineering or design experience, preferably in aviation or military defense in a machine shop or assembly environment
  2. BS Degree in a related manufacturing discipline or the equivalent combination of education and experience.
  3. Ability to effectively plan work instructions for the creation of complex machined components, assemblies, and special processes.
  4. Ability to communicate both verbally and in writing to co-workers and customers.
  5. Familiarity with CAD systems required. Solidworks, AutoCAD, and Catia preferred
  6. Familiarity with standard industry process including heat treat, plating, non-destructive testing, etc preferred
  7. Familiarity with standard machine shop practices including lathes, CNC mills, or sheet metal fabrication.
  8. Must be computer literate and have a strong working knowledge of MS Office, MS Excel in particular
  9. Ability to work with customer and industry specifications with extremely high attention to detail.
  10. Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  11. Team oriented and time sensitive.



Physical Requirements: This position requires the ability to work in seated or standing positions for prolonged periods of time, perform office and clerical duties including use of office tools.

Working Environment: The working environment is corporate office facility. Daily contact with employees in other departments is required.
