Primary Purpose of Position
The primary purpose of this position is to provide support services to faculty, staff, and students in the department and provide day to provide day-to-day operations of the research facility. This position is responsible for ensuring the proper installation, maintenance, and repair of various departmental equipment, which may require the use of a pallet jack. Work will include inventory control, including surplus and moves, and proper disposal, preventative maintenance, troubleshooting and repairs of existing systems, interaction with vendors for service contracts and vendor relations activities, research area access control, assist with regulatory standard compliance to maintain a safe environment, and research support activities including printing needs.
Minimum Education/Experience
Required Minimum Qualifications:

High school diploma or equivalency.

University Preferred Qualifications:

Graduation from high school or successful completion of its equivalency and one year of relevant experience in the area of assignment; or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
Essential Job Duties
The range of duties includes, but is not limited to: Inventory control, access control, support maintenance and operation of laboratory equipment, and research facility. Support the departmental research facility's day-to-day operations.
Other Work Responsibilities

  • Assist with inventory (Tracking and storing of equipment/inventory)
  • Assist with general facilities management tasks
  • Assist with the validation of Autoclaves
  • Assist with card and key access based on department and university policies
  • Assist with the management of the equipment monitoring system, Interface with and facilitate vendor/technician needs
  • Assist with research publication/presentation material,s and events

Departmental Preferred Experience, Skills, Training/Education

  • Bachelor's degree and general experience in a laboratory research environment; or equivalent combination of training and experience. All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions
  • Knowledge of Microsoft office, Google apps, Adobe CC
  • Ability to lift up to 20 pounds
  • Ability to exercise judgment and discretion in problem solving
  • Ability to plan, prioritize, and organize workflow
  • Excellent analytical and organizational skills, along with written and oral communication skills
  • Education and training in biology/science-related is preferred
