What this job involves:

We are seeking a skilled and experienced Carpenter to join our construction team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for constructing, installing, and repairing structures and fixtures made from wood and other materials.This role includes work that is performed both indoors and outdoors, may involve working at heights or in confined spaces, exposure to various weather conditions, and requires standing, climbing, lifting, and carrying heavy materials for extended periods

What your day-to-day will look like:

  • Blueprint reading and interpretation skills are essential for understanding project requirements, including drawings and sketches that guide construction and repair activities.
  • Material preparation involves measuring, cutting, shaping, and assembling wood, plastic, and other construction materials to meet precise specifications for various building projects.
  • Construction and installation of building frameworks is required, including walls, floors, doorframes, and other structural components that form the foundation of building systems.
  • Fixture installation encompasses windows, doors, stairs, trim, and hardware, along with drywall repair and replacement including taping, joint compound application, texturing, and painting.
  • Inspection and replacement of damaged framework, structures, and fixtures requires keen attention to detail and the ability to assess structural integrity and safety requirements.
  • Safe work environment maintenance is mandatory, including adherence to all safety regulations while operating and maintaining various hand and power tools throughout daily operations.
  • Collaboration with construction professionals ensures project completion on schedule, while estimating material and time requirements, training apprentices, and supervising less experienced carpenters demonstrates leadership and project management capabilities.

Qualifications:

  • A high school diploma or equivalent is required with vocational training or apprenticeship programs being strongly preferred for foundational knowledge and skills development.
  • Proven carpentry experience of 3-5 years minimum is essential, demonstrating proficiency in reading blueprints and technical documents for accurate project execution.
  • Strong knowledge of carpentry techniques, materials, and industry best practices must be combined with excellent skills in measuring, cutting, and shaping various construction materials.
  • Safe and effective use of both manual and power tools is mandatory, along with strong problem-solving abilities and meticulous attention to detail for quality workmanship.
  • Physical stamina is required for lifting heavy materials and working in demanding conditions, while strong communication and teamwork skills ensure effective collaboration with other professionals.
  • Basic math skills are necessary for calculating measurements and quantities accurately, along with maintaining a valid driver's license for transportation to job sites.
  • Flexibility for working at heights, in various weather conditions, and during overtime or weekend schedules is expected, with Certified Lead Carpenter and OSHA 30 certifications being valuable additions.
