Add to favorites Favorited View favorites Pay Grade/Pay Range: Minimum: $53,500 - Midpoint: $66,900 (Salaried E8) Department/Organization: 870601 - Veterans/Military Affairs Normal Work Schedule: Monday - Friday 8:00am to 5:00pm Job Summary: The Veteran and Military Affairs Program Manager develops programs and services to assist in the education and development of student veterans, service members, dependents, and survivors. Develops marketing materials for the VMA office. Represents the office to partners on- and off-campus. Oversees all planning and coordination of all events for the VMA office. Assists the Director in developing and implementing assessment plans and managing all data. Additional Department Summary: The Office of Veteran and Military Affairs serves the needs of student veterans, service members, and dependents. This is a high-traffic office with a demanding student population. This office is responsible for GI Bill certification resulting in over $11 million of tuition and fees paid to The University of Alabama by the Veterans Administration. This office also works directly with the students receiving the Alabama GI Bill benefits in excess of $11 million per year. Required Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor's degree and four (4) years of veteran affairs experience; OR master's degree and two (2) years of veteran affairs experience. Must obtain clearance and be authorized by the Veterans Administration on a yearly basis to become and remain an active SCO (School Certifying Official). Skills and Knowledge: Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Ability to interact with complex systems software (federal veterans benefits) and complicated regulatory benefit processes. Knowledge of planning and implementation of events for the University and community. Demonstrates commitment to supporting all students. Preferred Qualifications: Master's degree. Experience working in a student oriented field with college aged students. Military experience or experience working with military populations. Knowledge of Military Protocols for events. Knowledge of Veterans Administration Education Benefits. Experience with database management. Experience with Banner modules. Experience with Marketing.
