Qualifications

POSITION SUMMARY:

Provide & assist in direct patient care under the supervision of the charge nurse (RN) as prescribed by the physician & the treatment team. Provide medical management and re-assessment of patients. Assist RN with environmental safety and crisis management for the patient population. Assists RN with Admissions to the Unit as well as Discharging patients from the units under the supervision of the Registered Nurse. Supervise MHTs as directed by RN. Document patient care, ensure that data is accurate, & that it is included in the BMP, master treatment plan via timely nursing care plan updates. Work with the treatment team to provide a consistently therapeutic milieu.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education/Training:

  • Graduate of an accredited school of practical nursing

Experience:

  • Preferred: One-year inpatient psychiatric experience or Healthcare environment with adults, adolescents and/or children preferred.
  • New grads welcome

Licensure/Certification:

  • Current North Carolina State Licensed Practical Nurse License
  • Current North Carolina Driver's License
  • CPR Certification
  • CPI Certification

Knowledge and Skills:

  • Knowledge of appropriate nursing assessment, diagnoses, & interventions with patients.
  • Knowledge of milieu management.
  • Accurate administration of medication & treatments.
  • Monitor & record response & side-effects to medication & treatments.
  • Ability to safely implement Special Treatment Procedures.
  • Ability to develop therapeutic relationships with patients and families.
  • Ability to assist with educating patients & families in medication & care management.
  • Ability to write clearly, legibly, accurately, & concisely in patient charts.
  • Skill in maintaining appropriate medical record documentation.
  • Ability to direct subordinates in the performance of their duties.
