Associate Geospatial Production Lead
Overview The Associate Geospatial Production Lead supports daily operations within the Distribution Vegetation Management and Asset Management team at NV5 Geospatial. This position combines technical production responsibilities with emerging leadership duties, requiring a strong understanding of geospatial data workflows related to vegetation encroachment analysis, utility asset tracking, and field data integration. The role also involves mentoring team members, managing project schedules, and ensuring the timely delivery of high-quality geospatial products for utility clients. Responsibilities * Support the processing, analysis, and QA/QC of geospatial data for vegetation management, asset inspection, and utility distribution mapping projects. * Ensure consistent, scalable workflows across projects involving aerial data, and field-collected asset/vegetation data. * Train and mentor junior team members on geospatial analysis, vegetation encroachment models, and data quality standards. * Participate in team supervision, including PTO tracking, one-on-ones, and performance feedback. * Assist with hiring and onboarding for new analysts and technicians. * Track project milestones and provide regular updates to team leads and stakeholders. * Identify project risks (e.g., data quality, timeline challenges) and propose mitigation strategies. * Collaborate with subcontractors, internal teams, and field operations to ensure aligned data workflows. * Support resource planning and staffing adjustments based on project timelines. * Recommend team leads and help define scopes for analysis, reporting, and delivery components. * Participate in project kickoffs, retrospectives, and contribute to ongoing process optimization. * Uphold NV5's standards for data accuracy, reporting consistency, and client-specific requirements. Qualifications Minimum Qualifications: * 2+ years of experience in geospatial production, preferably within vegetation management or utility asset mapping. * Familiarity with utility industry practices for distribution vegetation management, including encroachment zones and reliability planning. * Proficiency with GIS software (e.g., ArcGIS, QGIS) and asset databases. * Strong project tracking and task management skills. * Effective communication and collaboration skills across technical and non-technical teams. * Demonstrated leadership or mentorship experience in geospatial project teams. Preferred Qualifications: * Bachelor's degree in GIS, Environmental Science, Forestry, Geography, or a related field. * Experience working with utility clients or vegetation contractors. * Knowledge of tools such as ArcGIS Pro, Python scripting, or FME. * Familiarity with asset management systems (e.g., Maximo, Esri Utility Network). * Exposure to LiDAR or remote sensing methods as part of vegetation or asset workflows is a plus.
