Role Description

We are looking for an experienced systems engineer with expertise in product architecture and systems engineering practices to join the Product Architecture organization, which is responsible for model-based architecture and controls software development of Form's multi-day storage product. In this staff-level position, you will be responsible for defining and implementing processes for the development of technical requirements and interface definitions used to inform mechanical, electrical, and control system designs. You must bring a deep knowledge of systems engineering methodologies. Collaboration with other engineers and managers throughout the Technology Team will be a part of your daily workflow, as this role will include a blend of technical development and cross-team coordination.

What you'll do:
  • Collaborate with a growing team of systems engineers to define and implement Form Energy's product architecture and systems engineering frameworks.

  • Support trade-studies to inform product architecture decisions; facilitate alignment between stakeholders throughout the Technology Team.

  • Develop architecture concepts at both system and subsystem levels, spanning product generations and field deployments. Leverage updated component and system performance data to guide iterative architecture evolution.

  • Work in the team that establishes functional requirements, interface definitions, and controls concept of operations for each subsystem.

  • Coordinate with internal teams on failure analysis, verification and validation test plans, certifications, and product deployment processes (factory and field).

What you'll bring:
  • BSc or greater in mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, or similar.

  • 6+ years industrial experience in systems engineering; direct experience with grid-interactive energy storage systems is a plus.

  • Track record of tactical decision making, and strategic planning,

  • Deep knowledge of model-based systems engineering practices including the use of SysML frameworks for requirements development and architecture definition.

  • Strong experience with model-based design and systems engineering principles.

  • Proficiency in one or more requirements management tools (Jama, Polarion, or similar)

  • Experience with software development, particularly high-level languages including Python; familiarity with low-level languages is a plus.

  • Preferred, knowledge of electrochemical systems, battery safety, and state estimation algorithms.

  • Multi-disciplinary engineering competency, including electronics, materials, fluid dynamics, thermal management, and power systems.

  • Technical communication skills, both written and verbal.
