Key Position Details:

  • 1.0 FTE (80 hours per 2-week pay period)
  • 8-hour day shifts
  • No weekends, no major holidays

Job Description:

Provides Social Security advocacy support. Evaluates all referrals to assess eligibility for Social Security Disability programs. Arrange appointments for Social Security staff with clients. Completes supporting documentation for Social Security applications and will serve as a liaison between clients and the Social Security Administration.

Principle Responsibilities

  • Social Security Advocacy
    • Completes high level phone screening to determine eligibility for Social Security Disability programs.
    • Answers incoming client calls and proactively contact clients and appropriate agencies to assist in the social security application process.
    • Completes interviews and assist in documentation requested by the Social Security Administration office.
  • Administrative Work
    • Arranges appointments for Social Security staff.
    • Requests medical records and submit to the Social Security Administration.
    • Follows up on incoming correspondence for the department.
    • Updates Social Security cases and complete invoicing.
  • Staff Development
    • Attends training through the State of Minnesota for the Social Security Advocacy Program.
    • De-escalates basic situations including customer needs.
    • Special projects as directed by leadership.
    • Assists with the education of new Allina employees from other departments including but not limited to Social Workers.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

  • Must be 18 years of age with education and/or experience needed to meet required functional competencies as listed on the job description
  • 2+ years health care or social service experience

Preferred Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Associate's or Vocational degree
  • Bachelor's degree
  • 1 year Social Security Disability experience

Physical Demands

  • Light Work:
  • Lifting weight up to 20 lbs. occasionally, up to 10 lbs. frequently

Pay Range

Pay Range: $25.50 to $34.94 per hour The pay described reflects the base hiring pay range. Your starting rate would depend on a variety of factors including, but not limited to, your experience, education, and the union agreement (if applicable). Shift, weekend and/or other differentials may be available to increase your pay rate for certain shifts or work.
