This role is based in Milwaukee, Wisconsin - you will also deliver some courseware virtually and at customer and partner sites across North America.Could involve up to 50% travel.

What you will do:

In the role of a Senior Instructor forHVAC Systems,you will be working within the fast-paced Building Efficiency product portfolio across North America. You will be involved in some course design and heavily involved in teaching courses to our customers and channel partners. You will do this by becoming a subject matter expert for our flagshipHVAC and controls products' technical curriculum, utilizing state-of-the-art technology and world-class laboratories. You will partner with instructional designers and learning professionals to define the best learning and teaching approaches, bringing problem-solving and expertise to every class you have, while being open to learning new skills as you grow in this job. How you will do it:

  • Deliver assigned learning sessions, which will include live classroom sessions and web-based learning sessions (synchronous or asynchronous). Sessions range from 2-5 days. Flex instruction and facilitation style and approach to fit the needs of the audience, the content, and the technology.

  • Facilitate learning of materials, processes, systems that have advanced level content and/or facilitate learning in multiple areas of expertise.

  • Develop subject matter expertise in new technology, products, or processes and serves as a subject matter expert in the development of learning materials for these new areas using the Learning & Development Process (LDP).

  • Arrange for an appropriate learning environment for the presentation of material, which may include room arrangement, audiovisual equipment, technical equipment, web access, handouts, etc.

  • Measure results of technical training using appropriate methods for determining participant reaction, amount of learning, and ability to demonstrate new skills in the classroom setting.

  • Provide constructive feedback to learners on their understanding of new materials and their performance in the classroom.

  • Working closely with the Lead HVAC Instructor, perform ongoing maintenance of our fully operational HVAC laboratory, such as adding chemical treatments and replacing faulty sensors and gauges.

  • As you grow your familiarity with our HVAC lab equipment, required functionality from all users and correct sequence of operation, become the first level troubleshooter for any issues that arise.

  • Continuously update and improve delivery and coaching skills, including the use of new technologies for sharing knowledge and building skills.

  • Work with the design and development team to create learning solutions, on time and on budget.

What we look for:

  • Technical - We need someone who understands and can communicate both the theoretical and practical function, applications and operations of all HVAC systems equipment and components.

  • Experienced - Five plus years of experience operating and troubleshooting or designing HVAC systems. Experience in a university or hospital environment would be ideal. Experience with training, coaching or teaching is very desirable.

  • Flexible - Realizes the importance of and comfortable working with details leading to impactful outcomes yet able to work at a high level to help drive strategic, design and financial decisions.

  • Articulate - Your writing, communication and facilitation skills must be strong to clearly articulate and transfer the content.
  • Collaborative - Collaborates with customers, partner channel management, learning professionals, product managers, program managers, and stakeholders.

  • Professional - Has personal ethics, does quality work, and has a positive attitude.

  • Educated - Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Business, Education or something that would support the mission of this position preferred. We will consider associates/apprenticeship depending on experience level.

This position will be based at our Glendale, WI training facility. It could involve up to 50% travel for training at other Johnson Controls training facilities or Customer Partner sites.
