Wage will be based on your completed year:

Sophomore: $19.00/hour

Junior: $21.00/hour

Senior: $22.00/hour

Position Summary:

The Technical Summer Intern will work within the Data Center Enclosure Development Team to build out a standard parts database for genset enclosure business. This role combines mechanical engineering principles with data/business analytics, requiring the intern to work with the current ERP system to define and categorize common and custom parts used in data center genset enclosures. The intern will implement both traditional methods and AI tools to evaluate the capabilities of emerging technologies in engineering data management.

This position is based in Darien, WI and requires a 40-hour work week that is onsite.

This internship will be for Summer 2025. We can coordinate with your school's program and align the internship period as needed.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Support the development and organization of a comprehensive standard parts database for data center genset enclosures
  • Work directly with the company's ERP system to define, classify, and structure mechanical components
  • Implement traditional engineering approaches to parts classification and database organization
  • Utilize and evaluate AI tools for parts identification and database development
  • Compare the effectiveness of traditional methods versus AI-assisted approaches
  • Document processes, findings, and recommendations
  • Collaborate with the data center enclosure development team to understand component requirements and specifications
  • Present summary findings at the conclusion of the internship
  • Other duties as assigned by management

  • Exposure to data center power generation equipment and components

Requirements:

  • Currently pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or related technical field
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail
  • Basic understanding of mechanical components and engineering principles
  • Interest in data management and organization systems
  • Excellent problem-solving abilities
  • Strong communication and documentation skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team

Attributes:

  • Familiarity with ERP systems or databases
  • Experience with data analytics tools (MATLAB, Python, etc.)
  • Knowledge of data center genset enclosures or similar mechanical assemblies
  • Previous experience with parts categorization or inventory systems
  • Understanding of AI applications in engineering contexts
