Job Summary:

The Director, Visual Design, Customer Marketing will lead and inspire a team of designers who support the customer marketing initiatives for all NRG US retail energy brands. This role is responsible for upholding brand standards, providing creative guidance and brainstorming, and reviewing all creative output to ensure alignment with brand direction and objectives. They will guide and execute design concepts and develop creative for digital and print channels, video, and animation. Working side-by-side with the content team will be critical in addition to working closely with marketing managers to meet the goals and objectives for multiple company initiatives simultaneously. The individual should be passionate about innovative ways to bring the brands to life, inspiring our customers and creating brand loyalists to ultimately increase tenure and value. The individual should be passionate about working fast and furious to meet the goals and objectives of the business and bring a can-do attitude to a team-driven environment.

Essential Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage the visual design team to translate marketing objectives into designs that are clear, compelling and consistent
  • Review and approve all creative output to ensure alignment with brand guidelines and quality standards.
  • Run brainstorm sessions for the design team and aid in the strategic visual direction of all customer creative projects
  • Ability to manage multiple projects, track and communicate progress throughout, and meet deadlines
  • Collaborate with internal and external teams to ensure brand consistency in messaging, design, and visual identity.
  • Manage creative resources, including design tools, software, and assets, to support the creative's needs.
  • Contribute to the development of creative strategies that align with brand objectives.
  • Provide creative input and direction for various projects and campaigns.
  • Allocate design team resources efficiently based on skill set, project demands, and priorities.
  • Provide feedback and guidance to resources for continuous improvement and growth.
  • Foster collaboration between creative teams and other departments to support marketing and brand initiatives.
  • Continuously assess the effectiveness of creative campaigns and make data-driven improvements.
  • Stay updated on industry trends and best practices in design and creative marketing to keep the organization's materials fresh and innovative.

Working Conditions:

  • Hybrid working environment.
  • Some overtime required as special projects arise.
  • Majority of work performed at a computer in a seated position.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Proven experience in creative direction, brand management, and overseeing creative teams.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Graphic Design, Visual Design, Web Design, Computer Graphics, UI design or related field
  • 10+ years of experience in consumer marketing creative or related position.
  • Experience managing a team of five or more
  • Expert in Adobe Creative Suite, specifically InDesign, Illustrator and Photoshop
  • Video/animation editing skills with After Effects
  • Good eye for strong photography that ties back to the brand, message and the business objectives
  • Understanding the importance of consistency for branding
  • Multitasks and delivers in a time-sensitive environment
  • Proven experience as a team player with a positive "Can Do" attitude
  • Ability to manage projects, meet deadlines and collaborate creatively
  • Strong communicator with verbal, written and presentation skills
  • Flexible and adaptable to a rapidly changing, fast-paced business environment

Additional Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Knowledge of Figma preferred, but not required
  • Energy industry or consumer products experience is preferred but not required
