Description

The Children's Home of Poughkeepsie has been caring for children throughout the Hudson Valley for over 175 years! We strive to empower children and families to achieve optimal health and well being. We are currently seeking a Clinician to work in our Children's Way Counseling Center.

Position Summary:

The Clinician will provide evidence-based ongoing individual, family and group counseling. This position functions as a part of a multidisciplinary team, under the direct supervision of the Clinic Supervisor.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities:



  1. Fulfills training responsibilities according to Children's Home of Poughkeepsie, NYS Justice Center, and OMH regulations.
  2. Is familiar with and adheres to all agency policies and procedures as outlined in the Children's Way Counseling Center's Policy & Procedure Manual and Employee Handbook.
  3. Provides clinical services to 40 to 50 children and their family members, through weekly individual and family psychotherapy sessions of 30 to 45 minutes in length.
  4. Performs assessments to evaluate a variety of mental health and behavioral conditions to children, adolescents, and adults.
  5. Develops an individualized, prescriptive treatment plan to fit the needs of each patient using appropriate diagnostic and patient placement criteria.
  6. Conducts individual, family, and group counseling, utilizing methods consistent with evidence-based practice.
  7. Utilizes outcome tools to determine patient progress.
  8. Coordinates care with primary care, other specialty providers, schools, and families via written and verbal communication.
  9. Arranges for appropriate care within the integrated healthcare system in Ulster County or through outside providers as prescribed in policies and procedures.
  10. Ensures that each client's rights are protected and that they are provided with appropriate interventions based on ability to participate, cultural concerns, and diagnostic impressions.
  11. Participates in departmental activities such as case conferences.
  12. Completes all clinical documentation to sustain the regulations and requirements outlined by the Office of Mental Health, including Progress Notes, Contact Notes, Treatment Plans, Annual Comprehensive Updates, Assessments, Consent Forms, and any other related necessary documentation.
  13. Maintains documentation required for the client medical record and utilization management within the timelines outlined per agency compliance department and OMH regulations.



Schedule: Monday - Friday, minimum 35 hours per week, rotating on call responsibilities

Location: 368 Broadway in Kingston, NY.

Qualifications

MINIMUM Qualifications:



  • Master's degree in Social Work, Psychology, or Counseling
  • LMSW, LCSW, LMHC or license eligible
  • One (1) year of experience providing evidence-based treatments for a variety of mental health and behavioral diagnoses for children, adolescents, and adults
  • Valid NYS Driver License in good condition as determined by the Agency
  • Must complete and pass a pre-employment physical, PPD and drug screen and an annual physical and PPD.



PREFERRED Qualifications:



  • Three (3) years of experience providing evidence-based treatments for a variety of mental health and behavioral diagnoses for children, adolescents, and adults
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Experience with Medicaid/managed care and other types of client billing
