Work Schedule:

100% FTE, 40 hours per week. Shifts scheduled Monday through Friday between the hours of 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM. Hours may vary based on the needs of the clinic.

We are seeking a Lead Optician to:



  • Join the UW Health Eye Care Team who provides comprehensive care to patients of all ages.
  • Oversee and mentor Optical staff.
  • Provide direction, coaching and motivate staff to achieve objectives and provide excellent patient care.
  • Assist patients with selecting the right fit, shape, style of eyewear and dispense contact lenses.
  • Perform eyeglass repairs and adjustments.



Education:

Minimum - High School Diploma or equivalent

Preferred -



  • Completion of an accredited Optician Vision Care Program
  • Some continued education courses



Work Experience:

Minimum -



  • Computer experience required
  • Previous eye care experience
  • Minimum 1 year or more supervisory or leadership experience


Preferred -



  • One or more years optician experience
  • Lab training or experience preferred
  • Contact lens training or experience preferred
  • Optical lab experience and/or optometric technician experience
  • One or more years of work experience with processing insurance claims


Licenses & Certifications

  • Obtain ABO Certification within 18-months or three (3) testing periods from the date of hire, and maintain the certification within 1-1/2 Yrs Required
  • American Board of Opticianry (ABO) Certification and/or National Contact Lens (NCLE) Certification Preferred
