Summary of Job Duties:Key Responsibilities:
*Develop, implement, and assess a comprehensive intramural sports and campus recreation program, ensuring alignment with divisional priorities and student needs.
*Manage and supervise the daily operations of recreation facilities, including scheduling, risk management, maintenance, and budgeting.
*Recruit, hire, train, and evaluate student staff.
*Design and deliver a broad range of programs, including team sports, tournaments, special events, fitness classes, and outdoor recreation activities.
*Promote participation to entire student body, contributing to holistic education and student success.
*Collaborate with campus partners, including Athletics, Student Health, Counseling Services, Residence Life, and Campus Safety, to promote health and wellness initiatives.
*Oversee the development and enforcement of policies and procedures to ensure safe and accessible recreation opportunities.
*Manage departmental budgets, including revenue generation, sponsorships, and resource allocation.
*Maintain and analyze program data, participation metrics, and assessment results to inform continuous improvement and strategic planning.
*Serve as an advocate for campus recreation as a critical component of student success, engagement, and retention.
*Serve as the Campus Camp Coordinator, work with pertinent departments to create policies and procedures and oversight to ensure compliance with university and UA system policies regarding all aspects of hosting camps on the UAM campus by both university and non-university personnel.
*Serve on other departmental, divisional and university-wide committees/work teams.
*Maintain a visible presence on campus, necessitating some evening and weekend work.
*Certification in CPR, First Aid, and AED (or willingness to obtain upon hire).
*Performs other duties as assigned. Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Recreation Management, Sports Administration, Physical Education, Higher Education, or a related field.
  • Five (5) years of progressive experience in recreational programming, intramural sports, or facility management.
  • Demonstrated leadership and supervisory experience.
  • Strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.

Additional Information:

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master's degree in Recreation, Student Affairs, Higher Education Administration, or a related discipline.
  • Experience with program assessment and strategic planning.
  • Familiarity with recreation management software and facility scheduling systems.
