  • UT Health Quitman offers 25 private rooms, a 24-hour Level IV trauma center and Level III stroke center, surgical suites, advanced diagnostics, swing bed care, cardiopulmonary rehab, on-site physician clinics, and a sleep lab.

Responsibilities

he Phlebotomist functions as a laboratory professional who performs specimen collection techniques or specimen collection instructions that include; venipuncture, capillary draws, urine collection instruction, and specimen culture collection instruction.


Qualifications

Job Requirements:

  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Completion of an accredited phlebotomy/medical assistant program with clinicals or previous phlebotomy experience.
  • Certification from nationally recognized agency. Accepted agencies and certifications include:
    • National Heathcareer Association - Certified Phlebotomy Technician: CPT (NHA)
    • American Society for Clinical Pathology - Phlebotomy Technician: PBT (ASCP)
    • American Medical Technologists - Registered Phlebotomy Technician: RPT (AMT)
    • National Center for Competency Testing - National Certified Phlebotomy Technician: NCPT (NCCT)
    • American Certification Agency - Certified Phlebotomy Technician: CPT (ACA)
  • Hospital Lab information system skills and strong customer service skills.
  • Experience working in the clinical setting.

Preferred Job Requirements:

  • 5+ years' experience as a Phlebotomist.
