Position Overview A lecturer in the School of Social Welfare Doctor of Social Work (DSW) program serves in a part- time capacity with responsibility for teaching content online. Our online courses are a 50/50 blend of synchronous and asynchronous instruction and content. Candidates should have experience in and/or a desire to teach at the DSW level within or across the program's curriculum areas: ethical and historical frameworks; leadership and administrative practice knowledge, theory and skills; research, inquiry, and implementation science; and/or pedagogy and instruction. Amount of work required can vary by position and will range from .10 FTE to 1.0 FTE. A fully remote option may be considered noting that work location assignments are non-transferable outside of the assigned position. Applicants will be reviewed and considered for teaching in the upcoming semester and as future needs arise. We appreciate your understanding and invite interested individuals from eligible states to apply. Job Description Lecturer: 100% teaching. Teach in relevant content areas of the DSW program. Class availability depends on enrollment. Responsibilities include, but not limited to: Attending instructor orientation and trainings Planning and organization of the course, including syllabus preparation and approval by faculty mentor, textbook acquisition, etc. Instruction through the semester Administration of tests and assignments, including grading Being available to students through office hours and/or individual appointments Assigning and posting final grades Participating in School of Social Welfare curriculum development as appropriate Required Qualifications Doctoral degree in a relevant Social or Behavioral Science Discipline At least 3 years of human service employment (for example in hospitals, courts, family service agencies, social service agencies, mental health centers, child welfare offices, domestic violence or sexual assault services, home health care, hospice or financial or emergency services) directly related to specific areas of instruction, beyond the master's degree Expertise in subject matter as evidenced by employment, coursework, or continuing educational experiences Demonstrated commitment to social work values, strengths-based practice, and empowerment Documented history of successful teaching in higher education settings or in continuing education workshops Preferred Qualifications DSW or PhD in Social Work Master's degree in social work Strong ties to professional social work community through employment, volunteer work, or professional consulting At least 5 years of human service employment (for example in hospitals, courts, family service agencies, social service agencies, mental health centers, child welfare offices, domestic violence or sexual assault services, home health care, hospice or financial or emergency services) directly related to specific areas of instruction, beyond the master's degree Additional Candidate Instructions A complete application includes an online application, resume, cover letter - including a statement on teaching philosophy, and contact information for three references.
