Job Description Post Doctoral Scholar to pursue research investigating the interface between commensal microbes and the immune system in barrier tissues such the skin and lung of mice and humans under the guidance of scientific mentor in the Department of Microbial Infection amp; Immunity; designs, conducts, and evaluates research experiments; plans and executes advanced microbiology and immunology techniques, including flow cytometry, scRNA-sequencing, bioinformatics, and confocal microscopy; develops, adopts and implements new laboratory methods; performs routine procedures on lab animals including surgical procedures and/or administration of drugs; analyzes and interprets data; writes research papers for publication; performs scientific literature searches; presents research findings at local, national, or international scientific meetings; applies for postdoctoral fellowships; assists PI with writing and submitting grant proposals to obtain extramural funding in support of research; performs scientific literature searches; participates in journal clubs, laboratory meetings, and Department seminars and activities; assists with training of other lab members. Minimum Education Required MD, PhD, or MD/PhD required. Required Qualifications Ability to interact in a highly multidisciplinary environment; experience with microbiology and immunology research techniques and procedures desired; experience with animal handling and husbandry desired. Requires successful completion of a background check; qualified candidates may be requested to complete a pre-employment physical, including a drug screen. |
