GES is seeking a highly motivated and experienced professional to join our team. The Regional Safety Manager will be responsible for ensuring the safety and well-being of all personnel, service partners, trade shows, and live events within their designated region. This position required strong leadership skills, attention to detail, an ability to unquestionably partner with our operations and business teams, and a proactive approach to identifying and mitigating potential safety hazards. The successful candidate will be able to form solid relationships with business partners throughout the organization, join and meaningfully contribute to a professional team, and gain the trust of all team members.
Responsibilities
Compliance
* Maintain current knowledge of all company safety policies and regulations. Instruct and advise business partners in safety issues that apply to their operations and to ensure that necessary safety procedures are established.
* Ensure the functioning of safety programs within the assigned regions and at show/exhibition sites.
* Work with Labor Relations to ensure enforcement of safety policies for both union and non-union labor employees.
* Conduct periodic inspection of GES facilities and show sites, including machinery, equipment and working conditions to ensure conformance with appropriate safety and sanitary standards and regulations.
* Act as liaison with government agencies (e.g.: OSHA, EPA) and serve as a facility management representative in case of inquiries and inspections to correct deficiencies and to minimize citations and fines for non-compliance.
* Monitor the availability and condition of appropriate firefighting and safety equipment in the assigned region.
Program Development
* Assist in the development of safety policies and training materials as required.
* Determine appropriate safety equipment and safe work practices to be deployed on specific jobs based on OSHA and GES standards, and implement accordingly through facility and show site management.
* Assist with the development and maintenance of emergency action plans and procedures.
Prevention
* Successfully partner with operations and business teams to effectively deploy safety programs throughout the GES business.
* Promote safe working conditions and practices aimed at reducing industrial injuries, illnesses, property damage, worker's compensation and general liability losses. Monitor and institute compliance programs.
* Observe and analyze work force performance with regard to safety and recommend specific measures, changes in procedures or amendments to safety programs.
* Periodically participate in, and conduct safety meetings, and ensure that coordinated safety training and motivational campaigns are conducted in association with company policies.
* Direct or participate in accident and near-miss incident investigations to determine causes. Make recommendations for corrective actions.
* Collaborate directly with trade unions in order to promote safe working conditions and behaviors.
Training
* Organize and coordinate training programs for all employees in safety-related fields.
* Determine appropriate safety equipment and safe work practices to be employed on specific jobs based on OSHA and company standards and implement accordingly through facility and show site management.
* Review, train, and assist in the process of all accident reports, safety inspection reports, safety committee meeting minutes, and insurance claim reports.
* Support supervisors in regard to the evaluation of safety concerns, employee safety recommendations and complaints. Determine acceptable corrective measures.
Investigations
* Participate in, and direct, incident investigation in compliance with company standards. Provide" on call" capability when necessary to participate/direct incident investigations.
* Initiate and ensure investigations of accidents and unsafe working conditions, compiling statistical data and providing remedial action to achieve effective prevention and avoidance of losses.
* Perform other duties as assigned and deemed necessary of the position under the direction of management.
Qualifications
* College degree preferred
* High School Graduate
* Three (3) to five (5) year safety related or tradeshow experience
* Union environment experience is preferred
* Preferred knowledge in DOT, EPA, OSHA regulations
* Experience with Workers' Compensation and associated claims preferred
* Ensure high degree of confidentiality

Work Environment
This is a hybrid position that requires remote work, office work, and frequent travel to event sites within a designated region. Trade shows and live events may take place in a variety of venues, including convention centers, exhibition halls, outdoor spaces, and temporary structures. The work environment can be fast-paced and dynamic, requiring adaptability and flexibility to meet the needs of different events and clients. The Regional Safety Manager must be comfortable working in diverse settings and weather conditions, with the ability to effectively manage safety risks in various environments.
