The Database Specialist performs activities related to the day-to-day administration and maintenance of transactional databases, ensuring that the databases are available, performing properly, and safe. Performs installations, upgrades and patching, backup and recovery, performance tuning, security, monitoring, and configuration.

US Citizenship is required for this role. In addition, the selected applicant must submit to a government background investigation and be favorably adjudicated before their first day.

RESPONSIBILITIES:



  • Analyze, organize, and transform data into comprehensible reports and visualizations
  • Develop Business Intelligence reports, database objects, ETL scripts, APIs, and SQL queries to extract information from data sets
  • Support data migration and data collection projects and initiatives
  • Organize and format data to ensure efficiency and quality in data storage and retrieval
  • Prepare and present quantitative data for an executive audience
  • Directs the monitoring, administering, and implementing performance on database systems as well as database performance optimization, developing/changing database indices, redesigning database structure and reloading data into a database
  • Assists in the planning and development of databases, as well as troubleshooting issues on behalf of both internal users and external clients
  • Performs database and software life-cycle activities to ensure the highest level of system performance and compliance with business requirements
  • Organizes and formats data for efficient query and storage processes
  • Adhere to the NIST's Cybersecurity Framework standards to emphasize security in the database design and creation process


REQUIRED SKILLS:



  • A minimum of 7 years of database development experience
  • Experience and expertise working with on-premises and AWS Cloud-based relational and non-relational databases
  • Familiar with NIST's Risk Management Framework
  • 3 years experience with MySQL Workbench and Tableau
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and oral
  • Ability to contribute quickly to the project
  • Ability to prioritize and organize efforts in a fast-paced environment
  • Independent problem-solving skills, strong analytical abilities, creativity, and a customer service-orientated personality
  • Familiar with Agile-Scrum and capable of working as part of a scrum team


EDUCATION:



  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant discipline; four (4) years of experience may be substituted instead of a degree

Internal title/grade: Database Administrator, E2
Salary Range: $95,000 -$112,100

All individuals being hired to work for TCG must submit to, and successfully pass, a pre-employment background investigation prior to reporting for their first day of work. The pre-employment background investigation will include verification of employment and education, as well as, a criminal and DMV check.

Additional documentation and background checks will also be required for positions that require clearance from the Federal government.
