Job Profile Summary

This role focuses on providing medical and clinical support services to patients. In addition, this role focuses on performing the following Community Health duties: Delivers training, facilitates sessions, and educates the community on a variety of clinical topics. A professional individual contributor role that may direct the work of other lower level professionals or manage processes and programs. The majority of time is spent overseeing the design, implementation or delivery of processes, programs and policies using specialized knowledge and skills typically acquired through advanced education. An experienced level role that applies practical knowledge of job area typically obtained through advanced education and work experience. Works independently with general supervision, problems faced are difficult but typically not complex, and may influence others within the job area through explanation of facts, policies and practices.

This position is responsible for providing nutrition services to WIC applicants and participants.

Job Description

Minimum Qualifications:

1. Bachelor's degree public health nutrition, nutrition, or related field.

2. One (1) year of clinical experience in community nutrition.

3. Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.

Preferred Qualifications:

1. Master's degree public health nutrition, nutrition, or related field.

Duties and Responsibilities: The duties and responsibilities listed below are intended to describe the general nature of work and are not intended to be an all-inclusive list. Other duties and responsibilities may be assigned.

1. Conducts anthropometrical and hematological data collection.

2. Conducts dietary assessment, nutritional risk assessment, and food package prescription

3. Provides counseling and education.

4. Completes all required documentation and data entry.

5. Provides referrals to other health and social services.

6. Follows-up on nutrition education.

7. Participates in planning, development and evaluation of: Educational materials and group nutrition education sessions; Nutrition Education Action Plan; Nutrition in-services and outreach activities; and Nutrition Policies.

8. Assists with training paraprofessional WIC staff and conducting quality assurance activities.

9. Communicates with healthcare community on issues pertaining to participant needs.

10. Provides nutritional care for low-risk applicants and participants as needed.

11. Establishes relationships between public and private agencies to create effective networks of health-related services and resources.

Physical Requirements:

1. Occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 lbs.

2. This is largely a sedentary role, which involves sitting most of the time, but may involve movements such as walking, standing, reaching, ascending/descending stairs and operating office equipment.

3. Frequently required to speak, hear, communicate and exchange information.

4. Ability to see and read computer displays, read fine print, and/or normal type size print and distinguish letters, numbers and symbols.

Skills & Abilities:

1. Demonstrated leadership and decision-making capabilities.

2. Excellent communication skills.

3. Sensitivity to the needs of the participant population.

4. Interest in nutrition and in maternal and child health.
