Head of Repair and Production Operations- Americas

Satair is looking for a HO Repair and Production Operations to join our team based in Miami, FL

Position Summary:

Responsible for the strategic development and management of the Miami Facility Operations related to Repairs, Production functions in a manner consistent with the company objectives and key performance indicators and in compliance with business expectations, applicable regulations and safety requirements and practices, as well as adherence to the organization's Ethics & Compliance requirements.

Your Working Environment

Our Miami site is located close to downtown Miami and only 10 miles from Miami International Airport (MIA). This location supports all of our Americas customers, but is crucial to our Latin American operations due to its close proximity to Latin America and the Caribbean. This site manufactures about 38,000 certified Eaton hose assemblies a year. Additionally, our Miami site is the home of the regional FAA-145 repair station, which was established in March of 2017.

Your Challenges:

Primary Responsibilities:

Leadership & Performance Management: 30%.

  • Provide leadership and direction to Repair & Production teams, incorporating Satair and LEAN tools and principles, including continuous evaluation of staff performance

  • Assume all responsibilities for the FAA-145 Repair Station as Accountable Manager and drive business operation and growth

  • Inspire and motivate employees to meet team objectives based the company's key performance indicators

  • Establish departmental and manager team goals within the framework of schedule, quality, technical, and financial objectives supporting global, as well as Repair & Production objectives

  • Ensure necessary competence level of repair personnel by executing training, on the job instructions and evaluation, and examination/testing in coordination with Chief Inspector

  • Ensure ongoing OTJ training for all personnel (both Repair & Production) to develop further capabilities and maximization of resources to cope with the business needs

  • Establish meaningful performance metrics KPIs and measure progress, aligning with regional and global expectations

  • Ensure shop floor layout and equipment locations are optimized for material flow and performance efficiency)

Efficiency & Productivity: 30%

  • Perform capacity planning and strive to maximize output for Sales and Product Management teams with existing equipment, tools and resources and forecast growth needs as necessary

  • Maximize repairs and production output by applying lean initiatives, reducing waste and coordinating proper allocation of inventory with Planning and Product Management, based on the market needs for the region

  • Ensure applicable resources are in place to successfully drive the team's performance to achieve objectives

  • Identify new production & repair processes / tools supporting productivity growth

  • Develop and implement effective cost control system across the site

  • Ensure coordination with Product Management on production levels and Shop Processing Time (SPT) to meet commitments to OEMs

  • Resolve organizational and operational issues with full inclusion of all stakeholders and with the goal of promoting sustainable results

Business Development: 20%

  • Engage with internal customers to ensure planning reflects their estimated needs and includes the ability to respond to emergency/special needs

  • Develop Repair portfolio strategies; increase capabilities & product lines to support business growth

  • Maintain and ensure compliance with Federal, State and local regulations regarding the operations of Repair & Production.

Financial Management: 10%

  • Oversee departmental budgets and expenditures and manage CAPEX & OPEX accordingly

Additional Responsibilities as assigned: 10%

  • Oversee the facility management supporting day-to-day operations

  • Facilitate and manage the environmental health and safety program (HSE) for the Miami, FL location.

Qualified Experience / Skills / Training:

Education:

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Production Management or related field or an equivalent combination of education and experience. MBA is a plus.

  • Experience in Project Management and/or Six Sigma Lean Implementation preferred

Experience:

Required

  • 5 years operation experience working under a FAA-145/EASA certified Repair Station

  • 5 years of experience managing a highly regulated environment standards, including EN/AS 9100 / 9110 / 9120 regulatory requirements for Manufacturing, Repairs and Distributions respectively

  • 10+ years of experience in operations with at least 5 years' experience in the aviation industry

Preferred

  • 5 years as a Manufacturing Manager/Director

  • 5 years of experience related to parts distribution

Licensure/Certifications:

  • Project Management and/or LEAN Six Sigma preferred

Communication Skills (Spoken, Written, Influencing, Proficiency in Other Languages):

  • Fluency in written and spoken English. Fluency in a language other than English, preferably Spanish

  • Strong communication and relationship building skills with others at all levels of the company as well as customers.

  • Effective collaboration with other leaders within the company

Travel Required:

  • 30% Domestic and International

Decision Making, Complexity:

  • Able to understand and act in a functional organized international environment (roles & responsibilities) under high pressure situations

Eligibility:

  • Authorized to work in the US.

Physical Requirements:

  • Lifting and Carrying: Able to carry up to 50 pounds on an intermittent basis.

  • Hearing: Corrected hearing able to respond to emergency alarms, alerts and warnings. Ability to hear via telephone, teleconference, and work-related conversations.

  • Pushing/Pulling/Manipulation: Able to push and pull items in the work place

  • Sitting: Able to sit and work in front of a computer or other machine for extended periods of time.

  • Squatting/Kneeling: Able to squat and kneel as needed to retrieve or place items on low shelving.

  • Standing: Able to stand for long periods of time

  • Physical requirements similar to that of a moderate activity job
