The Shipping and Receiving Clerk plays a crucial role in ensuring the accuracy and efficiency of incoming and outgoing shipments. This position involves verifying shipment contents, maintaining accurate records, and coordinating with carriers to facilitate smooth shipping and delivery processes.

Duties and Responsibilities:



  • Verify shipment contents against records such as manifests, invoices, or orders to ensure accuracy.
  • Record shipment data, including weight, charges, damages, or discrepancies, for reporting and recordkeeping purposes.
  • Prepare necessary documents, such as work orders, bills of lading, or shipping orders, to route materials appropriately.
  • Communicate with establishment representatives to resolve shipment-related issues, such as damages or shortages.
  • Pack, seal, label, or affix postage to prepare materials for shipping using various tools and equipment.
  • Coordinate with carrier representatives to arrange shipping and delivery schedules.
  • Transport materials to departments using hand trucks, conveyors, or sorting bins.
  • Maintain inventory of shipping materials and supplies by requisitioning and storing as needed.
  • Determine optimal shipping methods, routes, or rates for materials.
  • Calculate amounts such as available space, shipping, storage, or demurrage charges using computer systems or price lists.
  • Perform heavy lifting tasks, potentially up to 50 lbs, as required.
  • Fulfill any other duties as assigned.


Minimum Qualifications:



  • Understanding of quality standards, methods, and reporting procedures.
  • Ability to complete labor or time sheets accurately.
  • Analytical skills to identify potential problems or discrepancies.
  • Capability to work with minimal supervision and multitask effectively.
