Job Description
General Responsibilities:
Responsible for the day-to-day operation and administration of the organizations network (LAN/WAN) environment, server environment, unified communications and virtual environment. This includes, but is not limited to the installation, administration, and maintenance of servers, software, hardware, firmware, routers, switches, WAN optimizers and firewalls. Perform technical analysis of software and hardware using various diagnostic tools to ensure efficient infrastructure operations. Monitors data traffic and controls network performance. Identifies, diagnoses and resolves technical problems related to network failure/integrity and usage of hardware, software and Enterprise applications.

Essential Roles and Responsibilities:
  • Escalation point for any issue within the Terracon network.
  • Solid understanding of Microsoft Windows Server roles such as DNS, DHCP, and Active Directory Services (ADS).
  • Solid understanding of IP Networking as it relates to Local Area Networks (LAN) and Wide Area Networks (WAN).
  • Independently installs, maintains, monitors, and supports new server hardware and software.
  • Independently undertakes routine preventative measures and implementing, maintaining, and monitoring network security.
  • Participates in the long and short term planning and implementing future IT developments and undertakes routine project work.
  • Monitors use of the internet.
  • Installs components of a local area network such as switches, routers, and firewalls.
  • When necessary, works with other technical staff to follow operating procedures necessary to maintain the integrity of the network.
  • Maintains documentation regarding network configuration, operating procedures, and service records relating to network hardware and software.
  • Attends classes, seminars, conferences, and reviews professional literature to enhance knowledge of trends and developments related to enterprise infrastructure systems.
  • Understands the issues involved with administering and maintaining corporate infrastructure, including network connectivity, Internet access, email, etc.
  • Understands the issues involved in administering and maintaining a corporate WAN.
  • Assists in the support of corporate applications, internal corporate servers, user desktops, through tier II support.
  • Is able to perform regular backups of all critical corporate systems.
  • Trouble shoots all network devices
  • Is able to create and administer network and email accounts.
  • Is able to setup computerized systems in remote locations with little or no guidance.
  • Able to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw conclusions.
  • Assists with inventory management of hardware and software assets.
  • Follow safety rules, guidelines and standards for all projects. Participate in pre-task planning. Report any safety issues or concerns to management.
  • Be responsible for maintaining quality standards on all projects

Requirements:
  • Associate's degree in Information Systems and 5 years' experience. Or, in lieu of a degree, a minimum of 7 years' experience.
  • 5-7 years' experience in IT/Network administration with LAN/WAN technologies.
  • 5-7 years' experience working with Microsoft Windows Server environments using Active Directory Services (ADS).
  • Bachelor's degree in Information Systems preferred.
  • Experience with Microsoft Exchange
  • Experience with virtualization solutions, e.g., VMware, Citrix, Hyper-V, etc.
  • Valid driver's license with acceptable violation history.

  • MCSE certification
  • N+ certification
  • CCIE certification
  • A+ certification or any combination
