Symetra has an exciting new opportunity to join us as a Configuration Manager!

About the role
The Configuration Manager is responsible for the development, implementation and continuous improvement of the IT Configuration Management framework including, governance and control, standards, process, procedures, work instructions, communications and training materials. The Configuration Manager is responsible for defining and leading the operational activities of the process. They will be involved in ensuring integration with the other Service Management processes such as Asset, Change and Release Management. The Configuration Manager is also responsible for developing the CMDB data model, core policies, maintenance processes and procedures, key performance indicators and producing ongoing management reports. The Configuration Manager is responsible for handling and maintaining the Configuration Items in ServiceNow CMDB including CI identification, status accounting, configuration change management, verification and audit.

What you will do



  • Effectively develop, implement and improve the IT Configuration Management process:
  • Develop, implement and roll out the Configuration Management process, procedures, policies, work instructions, standards, governance and control.
  • Plan, manage and control the Configuration Management Database (CMDB) to ensure the accuracy of configuration data and accurate reporting and status accounting.
  • Conduct data quality analysis, provide recommendations to address data quality issues, and manage the implementation of approved recommendations.
  • Manage Configuration Item review attestations to ensure accuracy and completeness of undiscoverable configuration items maintained within the CMDB.
  • Evaluate existing CMDB functionality and recommend improvements to drive efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Participates in the planning, crafting and implementing of the Service Model in CMDB to ensure visibility across the infrastructure environment.
  • Manage and define Configuration Management exception criteria, as well as tracking, reporting and workflows.
  • Document business requirements, workflows, use cases, functional requirements, test plans, test cases, and data mappings for new improvements or modifications to CMDB functionality.
  • Develop training guides and communications regarding new features and functionality. Responsible for conducting formal and informal training sessions with business and technical end users. Build reports for data verification efforts.

Compensation
Salary Range: $93,900 - $156,600 plus eligibility for annual bonus program.

Who you are



  • Bachelor's degree in technical field or related discipline.
  • 5+ years proven experience in a Service Asset & Configuration Management capacity.
  • Understanding of Agile Methodologies and Processes. Knowledge of virtualization technologies and cloud hosting strategies.
  • Knowledge of work flow process documentation and analysis.
  • Experience using various tools such as SQL and Access queries, or MS Excel for data research and analysis.
  • Proficient with MS Office tools, primarily MS Word, Excel, Visio and PowerPoint.
  • ITIL v3 Foundations required, Practitioner Level Certification an asset
  • Demonstrated ability to assess environments, conduct gap analysis, recommend improvements, develop and implement best practices, processes and methodologies.Experience with Continuous Delivery and Automation Practices preferred. Experience with
  • SCCM, ServiceNow & ServiceWatch Discovery required.
