This role is also eligible for S&C's annual incentive plan (AIP), subject to eligibility criteria. Join Our Team as a Senior Trade Compliance Analyst! Are you passionate about Trade Compliance? S&C Electric Company is seeking a dynamic individual to coordinate our supply and logistics function. As a Senior Trade Compliance Analyst, you'll be crucial in ensuring smooth operations and supporting our diverse team. The Senior Trade Compliance Analyst plays a critical role within S&C's Supply and Logistics function, ensuring all import and export activities comply with regulatory requirements. This position acts as a knowledge source for the function and and oversees accurate records of trade activties, support the classification of goods, and provide guidance on compliance-related matters to internal stakeholders globally. The role contributes to S&C's duty savings programs, audit processes, and the continuous improvement of compliance procedures. Key Responsibilities:
- Own the day-to-day activites of S&C's trade compliance function. Act as a knowledge source for the function on complicated trade and compliance matters, building procedures and advising global business units on best practices. Maintain accurate records of import and export entry filings, ensuring compliance with global customs regulations.
- Classify goods using the Harmonized Tariff Schedule (HTS), Schedule B, and Harmonized System codes to ensure compliant imports and exports, and to maximize duty savings opportunities.
- Provide guidance to team members on the handling of handling export and import shipments, including hand-carry and carnet shipments, acting as a resource for the organization to ensure compliance with relevant regulations.
- Create and manage documents such as Certificates of Origin and Manufacture Affidavits, amongst others
- Monitor and evaluate documentation for import/export shipments, ensuring accuracy and identifying potential duty drawback opportunities. Develop and implement processes for managing documentation and completing related transactions in the Oracle ERP system.
- Support post-entry corrections as needed, maintaining all necessary documentation and records.
- Create and maintain reporting metrics for trade compliance internal audits, including clearance accuracy, duty taxes, and other visibility requirements. Partner with the Manager - Global Trade Compliance to fulfill audit requirements by various internal and external auditors.
- Assist with corrective actions related to internal audits and compliance issues, ensuring ongoing regulatory adherence. Stay up-to-date on new legislative developments in areas in which S&C does business in order to make recommendations to process/compliance need changes.
- Partner with the legal services team to ensure sales and vendor transactions comply with the sanctioned party list and other regulatory requirements, escalating complex issues to the appropriate staff when necessary.
- Responsible for managing Power of Attorney with S&C's customs brokers and freight forwarders.
- Understand and comply with all applicable Company policies and rules.
What you'll Need To Succeed:
- Bachelor's degree in Business, International Trade, Supply Chain Logistics, or related field.
- 10+ years of experience in a logistics role with specific experience in trade compliance, such as with import/export regulations.
- Comprehensive knowledge of customs regulations, the Harmonized Tariff Schedule, duty drawback, reconciliation, and incoterms.
- Knowledge of agreements between countries to reduce or eliminate trade barriers like tariffs and quotas. Understanding the criteria that determine whether a product qualifies for preferential treatment under an FTA.
- Proficiency in classifying goods under the HTS to determine applicable tariffs and duties
- Ability to determine whether specific goods fall under ADD/CVD orders and understanding the implications for importers.
- Understanding how duties are calculated based on the value of goods, including freight and insurance costs.
- Item Classification Expertise:
- Proficiency in classifying goods accurately under the Harmonized Tariff Schedule (HTS) and Export Control Classification Numbers (ECCN).
- Experience analyzing product specifications and technical details to determine proper classifications.
- Familiarity with dual-use items, military goods, and restricted products for compliance with export control regulations (e.g., EAR, ITAR).
- Demonstrated ability to work with engineering or product teams to understand the technical aspects of items for precise classification.
- Experience in customs brokerage, trade compliance auditing, and post-entry corrections.
- Experience engaging with customs authorities and regulatory bodies.
- Experience in educating employees on compliance policies and practices.
- Great communication skills, both verbal and written, for conveying complex data insights to diverse stakeholders. Effective collaboration with cross-functional teams is a key strength. Able to influence others towards proper trade compliance activities, both inside and outside of the supply & logistics function.
- Proven ability to identify and mitigate logistics-related risks, coupled with the development and execution of effective contingency plans to ensure business continuity.
- Champions a constant improvement mindset by consistently looking for new ways to improve processes and helping to motivate project teams to do the same.
- Sound analytical skills with the ability to source data and analyze it with tools such as Excel, Power BI, Power Automate, identifying trends, strategic insights, and potential issues. Highly capable of utilizing ERP systems with significant experience using ERP logistics-related functions.
- Ability to work in a team and independently, driving forward impactful projects with limited supervision
Preferred:
- Bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish
- Experience working with Oracle ERP and/or another Global Trade Compliance system.
