Overview

We are seeking a dynamic VP Business Analytics to lead our business analytics team and promote data-driven insights across the organization. This strategic role will be instrumental in shaping our business strategy, enhancing operational efficiency, and delivering measurable business value.



Responsibilities

    Strategic Leadership: Direct the creation and continuous improvement of dashboards & data analysis to support internal stakeholders ensuring insights are easily accessible and actionable
  • Opportunity Identification: Guide the business analytics team to identify major opportunities using our data and 3rd party data, influencing underwriting, pricing, distribution, operations, and product development
  • Performance Metrics: Establish and monitor KPIs to assess business performance, and operational efficiency. Provide regular reporting and recommendations to senior leadership
  • Team Management: Lead and mentor a high-performing analytics team, fostering a culture of innovation and continuous improvement. Promote best practices in data analysis and visualization with a focus on insight generation and call to action
  • Cross-Organizational Collaboration: Work with underwriting, claims, product development, pricing, operation, sales & distributions teams to align dashboarding, reporting and analytics needs with business objectives. Increase and foster collaboration between the Business Analytics and Data Science teams
  • Technical Expertise: Leverage your knowledge of data analytics tools and platforms to create, maintain, and optimize dashboards.
  • Stakeholder Communication: Act as a liaison between technical teams and business units, translating complex data requirements and analytical findings clearly to stakeholders at all levels, influencing decision-making and promoting a data-driven culture
  • Ongoing Innovation: Stay at the cutting edge of data analytics and visualization technologies, continuously improving processes and solutions


Qualifications

  • Advanced academic degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Economics, Business Statistics, Operational Research, or a related field. Relevant certifications are a plus
  • 10+ years of experience in a Business & Data Analytics role within the insurance or financial services industry. Strong preference for commercial insurance experience
  • 8+ years of management experience in a leadership role overseeing data analysis and visualization deliverables. (Teams of 15+ people; Manager of mangers)
  • Strong technical skills in Power BI, SQL and Python. Familiarity with other visualization solutions, programming languages, AI applications and cloud platforms is an advantage
  • Experience working with and integrating 3rd party data, preferably for commercial insurance
  • Experience with developing and implementing advanced analytics, forecasting, predictive models & ML in one of the following areas is an advantage: pricing, underwriting, sales & distribution, customer/agent engagement
  • Strong leadership and team management skills, with proven ability and experience in building and developing data and analytics teams
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to translate complex data into actionable insights
  • Ability to build strong relationships within the business units and support functions to better understand the business needs
  • Familiarity with financial reporting is an advantage
  • Preference for NY/NJ/Cleveland locations
