Pay: The anticipated salary range for this position is $20.60-$25.40 per hour, depending on experience and qualifications. Compensation is determined based on a variety of factors, including relevant work experience, the skills required for the role, internal equity, market competitiveness, and budget considerations. Schedule:
30 hours per week

Shift times: Flexible schedule, primary hours during Monday-Friday 8:30am-4:30pm, occasional evenings & weekends.

Location: 1001 E Central Entrance # 200, Duluth, MN 55811

Job type: Non-Exempt

Travel: Regular/weekly travel around Duluth & Cloquet area. Travel throughout Minnesota during training.

Job Summary:

With the support of the Indigenous Initiatives Education team at PPNCS, the Health Educator II is responsible to build and sustain community partnerships, coordinate culturally specific community outreach and facilitate It's That Easy Caregiver-child education classes to diverse learners in Carlton and St. Louis counties in northern Minnesota. The Health Educator II is responsible for additional responsibilities such as administrative tasks, and contributing to evaluation, curriculum and program development as well as promoting reproductive health services to meet the goals of the Education Department and supporting the mission of Planned Parenthood North Central States. Health Educators are advocates in implementing our mission of "Advancing and protecting sexual and reproductive healthcare for all." They may perform other related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:



  • Experience working in Indigenous communities and other culturally and racially diverse populations
  • At least one-year experience in youth development, health education, public health, or related area
  • Familiarity with the network of organizations and agencies serving Indigenous communities throughout northern Minnesota.
  • Access to independent transportation, valid driver's license and auto insurance with willingness to drive to different clinic and/or program sites as needed


Your Day-to-Day Responsibilities:



  • Deliver culturally-specific caregiver-child sexuality education with Indigenous caregivers in Carlton and St. Louis counties in a variety of settings and locations such as schools, community organizations, and treatment centers
  • Plan, organize, coordinate and provide staffing for displays, exhibits, and promotional efforts at health fairs and community celebrations including but not limited to powwows, health fairs and other community events.
  • Assist with the implementation of focus groups to gather key information on how to best deliver sexuality education in Indigenous communities in northern Minnesota.
  • Plan and prioritize annual work plans and budgets for community education with the Manager of Indigenous Initiatives.
  • Evaluate, promote and disseminate accurate and current information and curricula relating to sexuality; keep current on related periodicals, journals, books and curricula, and films.
  • Compile, record, and evaluate outreach and educational statistics and prepare reports as needed.
  • Participate in appropriate professional meetings and work groups to build coalitions and partnerships with other community groups on educational programming; and build and maintain professional relationships.
  • Dedicate time to professional skill development around Diversity Equity and Inclusion work. At least 10% of time or 2 hours per week for a 20-hour work week.
