Job Description

We are seeking a talented Senior Interior Designer (In House Design) to join our growing in-house design team! Be part of the reimagination of our brand as we plan to renovate 1/3 of our portfolio in the next 3 years.

The Senior Interior Designer provides complete design for designated hotel renovations. The Omni Hotels & Resorts Internal Interior Design department handles renovations of all hotel areas as scheduled in the yearly capital plan including guestrooms, corridors, restaurants, meeting spaces, public spaces, retail, spas, outdoor areas, pools, etc.

Location: Omni Hotels & Resorts Corporate Office - Dallas, TX (NOT hybrid / remote)



Responsibilities

The Senior Interior Designer directly reports to the Senior Director of Interior Design. The individual's primary areas of responsibility will be the design and management of interior design process and design team on renovation projects and delivering creative, thoughtful, and high-quality design in both FF&E and Construction Documents.

    Assumes responsibility for all aspects of interior design project scope-of-work, schedule and budget under supervision of Senior Director of Interior Design.
  • Leads the creation of project narrative and content including space planning, FF&E selections, design narrative development, presentation content including material/finish boards, rendered elevations, 3D renderings, imagery, concept visuals, signage design, OS&E selections (design focused), etc.
  • Produces content for all project ID documents (i.e., FF&E specifications) and construction documentation as part of an independent effort or with support of the design team (where applicable).
  • Coordinates design details and drawings with external consultants such as architect, lighting designer, F&B equipment designer, accessibility consultant, etc. (as necessary, based on scale and complexity of a project).
  • Delegates to, mentors, leads and manages project design staff (where applicable, depending on project scope and size). Assigns tasks, discusses time allotments, oversees and reviews their work for accuracy, efficiency and thoroughness, lends feedback, redlines check sets. Sets project milestones to ensure the project deadlines are met.
  • Leads design presentations to Creative Director and VP of Interior Design as well as general managers, field marketing and sales teams.
  • Reviews and approves FF&E and GC submittals (specifically, FF&E shop drawings, CFAs, millwork shop drawings, architectural finishes, lighting submittals, plumbing submittals, etc.).
  • Interacts with General Manager and Executive Team in the field on design related project matters.
  • Leads coordination with the project managers, purchasing agents and external consultants.
  • Reviews and records Purchase Orders.
  • Leads field visits, ID site supervision and interior finish and FF&E punch lists related to interior design scope as required.
  • Conducts preliminary field surveys for project interior design scope verification.
  • Participates in company events, takes initiative and contributes to the overall culture and success of Omni Hotels & Resorts.


Qualifications

  • 8 + years of experience in an architectural or interior design firm with emphasis on all areas of hotel design.
  • Bachelor Degree from a 4 year accredited Interior Design program.
  • Team player with ability to switch gears easily and multitask.
  • Highly motivated individual who progressively seeks additional responsibilities.
  • Leadership qualities to motivate and mentor others.
  • Proven leadership abilities with experience leading a project team (delegate tasks, review work of others, assume ownership of a project in all aspects of the design process).
  • Proven ability to handle shifting priorities, timelines and demands in a fast-paced, deadline driven working environment.
  • Excellent time management and organization skills.
  • Excellent attention to detail and keen eye for aesthetics.
  • Strong interpersonal, verbal, written, and communication skills.
  • Strong presentation skills.
  • Experience designing Axminster carpet.
  • Proficient in FF&E specifications, FF&E matrices, quantity take-offs and matrices.
  • Proficient in custom furniture design, interior elevations, millwork details, sections in AutoCAD.
  • Must be able to work within budget requirements.
  • Must be able to take the project from concept design to completion independently or as part of a team effort depending on complexity of project.
  • Travel approximately 20% of time.
  • Must be willing to travel via airplane.
  • Daily working knowledge of Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.
  • Proficient in AutoCad, Photoshop, Adobe Acrobat or Bluebeam, Spexx (or equal specs writing software).
  • Sketch Up (not required but preferred).
  • NCIDQ certification or Professional Licensure is preferred (will compensate for licensure fees and CEUs*)
