Analyst, Gas Control - Gas Sequencing & Scheduling

Overview

The Analyst will be for tracking and monitoring work near Gas transmission mains as required per G-11863. This includes enforcing proper oversight and safe excavation practices for work occurring near the gas transmission main. The analyst will review, process, and schedule IP-9 procedures and perform responsibilities as required to support Gas Control operations. The analyst must be able to make decisions independently and render sound business decisions as issues arise. Coordinate with Gas System Planning necessary for support and modeling requirements. Maintain tracking of scheduled field activities on or near the gas transmission or distribution systems.

Responsibilities

Core Responsibilities
  • Track and monitor excavation activities near the Gas Transmission Main as required per G-11863.
  • Review third party activity reported by Facilities Protection, assess if work is within 25 of Gas Transmission Main and assign Gas Transmission Contingency Case as required. Coordinate staffing of valves as needed.
  • Assist Gas System Operators in maintaining the integrity of the Companys Gas Transmission and Distribution system and provide support as required.
  • Assist with verification of activity in the vicinity of the Gas Transmission Main for weekly transmission patrols.
  • Investigate Unreported Activity flagged during transmission patrols to verify origins of activity.
  • Process, schedule, and sequence Gas Operations planned activities covered under IP-9.
  • Review and process and IP-9 written procedures on the Con Edison Transmission and Distribution main for adherence to IP-9 requirements and analyze for system impact.
  • Coordinate with Gas System Planning for impact studies as needed.
  • Possess a working knowledge of applicable Company and Departmental Specifications and the ability to interpret such regulations and specifications.
  • Adhere to applicable guidelines or internal procedures for the purpose of facilitating and implementing the Gas Sequencing and Scheduling group's core responsibilities.
  • Maintain scheduling systems to capture scheduled work on the Gas Transmission and Distribution systems.
  • Work non-traditional hours, the selected individual will work on a weekly rotation with one other person to cover Monday through Saturday 7:00 AM to 5:00 PM.
  • Perform other related tasks and assignments as required.

Qualifications

Required Education/Experience
  • Associate's Degree and 4 years' full time industry experience in gas, electric or steam or
  • Bachelor's Degree and 2 years' full time industry experience in gas, electric or steam
Relevant Work Experience
  • General working knowledge of gas transmission and distribution systems. Required
  • General working knowledge of GIS and/or mapping systems. Required
  • Must have strong communication skills and the ability to effectively interact with customers (internal and external) and all levels across the organization. Required
  • Must possess excellent verbal, written and interpersonal skills. Required
  • Must be able to work well in team situations. Required
  • Must be able to exercise independent judgment and possess the ability to render sound business decision. Required
  • Must be able to work a weekly staggered shift with other analyst to cover 7:00AM 5:00PM Monday through Friday and Saturday 7:00AM 3:30PM. Required
  • Related work experience including scheduling field activities. Preferred
Skills and Abilities
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Office including Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint, etc.
  • Well organized, detail oriented and flexible to handle multiple assignments
  • Ability to work within tight timeframes and meet strict deadlines
Licenses and Certifications
  • Driver's License Required
Physical Demands
  • Must sit or stand to use a keyboard, mouse, and computer for entire shift
  • Must be able to read small print and symbols.
Additional Physical Demands
  • Must be able to respond to Company emergencies by performing a System Emergency Assignment to restore service to our customers.
  • Must be able and willing to travel within Company service territory, as needed.
