This District Temp Part Time Student Intern - Power Operations and Planning Team (District Temp-Summer) position will receive training and gain practical business application, report and workflow development experience through training, mentoring, and performing assignments. The intern will work closely with the team and help to prevent and detect weaknesses that may impact Metropolitan's energy and water operations. Specifically, this position will perform work in North American Electric Reliability Corporation (NERC) electric reliability compliance and cybersecurity, Power system scheduling and dispatch, Electric transmission planning and Energy sustainability and resiliency. The primary duties of this position include performing research as assigned and applies academic theory, training and education to real life work situations and environments. Participates on project teams as required. Learn, and assists with tasks related to their areas of discipline and assigned area of responsibility and assists to plan, conduct studies and research, and compile information from various sources; provides updates, prepares reports, collect, verify data, and analyze statistical data, maintain records, and report findings, and make recommendations. Learns and assists in the implementation of goals and objectives, identify opportunities for improving processes to optimize efficiency, performs office duties and activities as required. Performs other related Student Intern job duties as required. This Student Intern position will be located at Metropolitan's Headquarters Building in Downtown Los Angeles (Union Station). WORK SCHEDULE: Full-time (summer break). 9/80 Monday through Thursday 9 hours per day, 8 hours per day every other Friday. To view the full job description click here: Student Intern EMPLOYMENT STANDARDS MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS Education and Experience: Current enrollment in an accredited four-year college or university carrying a minimum of 12 semester units or 8 quarter units with junior or senior standing in a related major and maintain a cumulative grade point average of 2.75 or higher on a 4.0 scale, or current enrollment in an accredited graduate degree program in a related major with a grade point average of 2.75 or higher. Related major is defined as: Computer Science or Engineering, or Electrical or Mechanical Engineering CERTIFICATIONS, LICENSES, AND REGISTRATION REQUIREMENTS License(s): Valid California Class C Driver's License or equivalent (required at time of application) that allows you to drive during your employment.
